Frozen

2013-05-13, 2:41 AM

My razr v indicator light lit up green, the screen went black, and now it wont turn on. I tried holding down the power and volume buttons simultaneously for 15 seconds, but it doesnt seem to help.

Any suggestions?

What was the status of the battery when this happened (percentage of battery left)?

ADDED: If it was down to around 5-10%, that could be the issue. I would put it on the charger (AC adaptor - not USB), for about an hour or so and then try it again. Phone will not run or start-up if the battery is below a certain percentage, and will require being charged back above 15% ( I believe that it is the number). Good idea to never let these phones completely discharge, as this can do more harm than good to LiION batteries. Can decrease their lifespan.

Hey captain_kirk_9,

Does the charging indicator light up when you plug the power cable in? Which colour, does it stay lit?

Cheers,

Nicole

I don't believe that the battery was that low, and there was absolutely no reaction from the phone when it was plugged in. I let sit over night to kill the battery and then recharged it, and haven't had any issues since.

Glad it is working for you, but you should avoid killing a LiION battery as it can decrease it's life span. I plug mine in whenever around a charger which is the best thing you can do for LiION (or at least so I have read).

If it were possible to shut off power to the phone, as in a master switch, then i wouldnt have to kill the battery every time the phone froze. 2nd time in just under two months. Every phone should have a master switch, or an accessible battery.

Hey captain_kirk_9,

You should be able to switch the phone off by holding the power and the volume down button. I read that you tried it with both volume buttons just now, I think it is volume down instead.

Do you have many apps running in the background?

Is it maybe one particular app that freezes your phone?

Did you recently change SIM or SD card and experience this since you changed the cards?

Let me know and I can assist you in finding the cause of the phone freezing.

Cheers,

Nicole

Its possible that i didn't try the volume down without pressing the volume up. I was using three fingers to hold down all buttons at the same time. Il have to test that the next time that it freezes. And i don't know which specific apps were running at the time that the phone froze. I know that the first time i was at the home screen, but i have my phone set to allow 2 background processes at a time.

Hey captain_kirk_9,

So we can exclude the cards as a factor. If you find any suspect apps then uninstall them and see what happens.

If you cannot find the app responsible and the phone keeps freezing, then it would be best to back up your data and factory reset the phone.

Factory reset deletes everything on the phone. If the phone still freezes with hardly any apps on it, then that would indicate hardware.

Let me know how you are getting on.

Cheers,

Nicole
