I have both and they're pretty much the same. under the hood they are almost the same other than storage. If you really plan to install a lot of apps, then go for the regular one, as family addition has half the storage. Also, regular xoom has a bit newer os, and if you are one of those people who really care about that, then go for the regular xoom.

Family edition does feel lighter but it is just how it feels. It also comes programmed with a bunch of games and kid-friendly apps, as well as parental controls.

So it comes down to what you plan to use it for.

Both are great tablets.

I hope this helps.

The FE does have the IPS screen (which has better viewing angles than the regular xoom). I think the FE is a great tablet for the money, but if you are concerned about maximum storage and accessories, go with the original xoom. Also, the FE has weak audio, but this can be somewhat remedied by downloading Equalizer and turning all of the frequencies up. I love my FE despite it's few shortcomings and would easily reccommend it to friends and family.

@camelrides,

It looks like you posted a very similar thread in the non-FE Xoom forum, so to avoid redundancy but still include the other comments, here is a link to that thread with my responses:

I just posted my reply in doc's thread above - bottom line, I love the FE and use it for work as well as play.
