So how about any movies at all, then?

2011-10-18, 17:20 PM

I don't mean to hang up on one subject, but I did just like Motorola's press release said:  I grabbed the popcorn, hit the lights, and cuddled up on the couch... but no movies.  No TV shows.  Netflix, Hulu, Blockbuster, Google Video.  Nothing works or is compatible.

There is Netflix support for the regular xoom, right?  Why not here?

@Cerberus73

I don't think Hulu works on any of our Tablets currently.  Please read this FAQ concerning Netflix. I am looking into BlockBuster, Google Video/Movies.

So I guess Netflix works but doesn't work.  The app is listed as compatible and downloads to the Xoom FE OK, but refuses to actually play any video.

I suppose some of this revolves around an update to 3.2?  My device is 3.1 stock, with no auto updates available.  From the scattered report I find on the web, the Google Video tab comes with the upgrade to 3.2, but I could be reading it wrong.  Will there be an upgrade path to 3.2 for the FE, or are we stuck here?

There was an update waiting for me when I got home last night.  Netflix is working for me now, as well as other original Xoom owners I talk to.

Still very interested in the other services (google videos) and whether there will be a 3.2 upgrade path.

Still very interested in google video and the possibility of a 3.2 upgrade.  @Mark, have you heard anything back?

Thanks

Google Videos requires Android 3.2 for Honeycomb.  I truly hope Motorola updates and supports the FE Xoom!

Part of the reason I bought the Xoom FE was to be able to rent/download movies from the Android market...

Could you please respond? Google Videos will only work on tablets 3.2 or higher. Will the Family Edition be getting this update? If it's unclear then I will need to return the Xoom FE and go with a Galaxy Tab or something I'm confident will get 3.2.

Thank you

Welcome keeganvzw,

Given the news from Mark (Moto Admin) that the Xoom FE will receive ICS in this post:

http://supportforums.motorola.com/message/496317#496317

I think it is possible the the Xoom FE could receive ICS and skip updates to HC 3.2. With the recent news that Google is ahead of schedule with ICS, this might make better sense and keep our tablets more current.
