Re: Twonky is messing up my FE. I need to get it off ASAP

  1. Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All > Twonky > Launch by Default > Clear Defaults
  2. Also uninstall updates from the same menu.
    1. If I did that and then clicked Twonky again it would say Download Twonky Mobile. Which means the app isn't really installed. Just an App nub(shortcut) is there.
    2. Are you seeing that?

Mark,  Thanks for following up.  I see the "Download Twonky Mobile" blue screen, just as you do.

I did not have any defaults set, by the way - yet I still had issues with Twonky going straight past the trial period to the mandatory upgrade.

I still really want to delete this useless piece of software!

I would also like to remove Twonky from my Xoom FE. I do not intend/want to use it and I am tried of seeing update notifications in the market for an app I do not want.

@Mark, is there a better option than "kindly ignore the app"?

Thanks, Jaime

I also have an issue with this useless app. I cant understand why we would be forced to keep trialware with no option to uninstall. For this and other reasons I usually "Root" my android devices. Guess what?!!! This FE version does not have fastboot therefore it can not be rooted @ this time. It doesnt even register in an eclipse development environment only on Windows. Which really, really sucks. I feel that Motorola's stance against rooting is a step in the wrong direction. If anything look @ the models of Samsung and HTC who are actively encouraging community development on thier devices. Ensuring timely updates and self help rather than complaining and crying to manufacturers about something not working as intended.

@Mark, yes I read your response in 10. I have read all the responses, including the comment from coolthecat about the inability to uninstall unwanted trialware.

Don't get me wrong, I am loving my Xoom FE. I just bought another one today as gift.

Please consider my comments as a plea to Motorola to give owners the option of removing trialware. Even the Twonky app nub is still showing up in the notification area and Market with an update available. I don't want the app or to be notified that the 'nub' has an update.

Thanks,

j.carpenter

@j.carpenter

Understood. I feel similarly.  Hoping we can change it in a future update.
