Widgets disappearing

2011-11-19, 2:37 AM

I'm having an issue with the CNN widget with the dropping tiles disappearing occasionally. If I long press where the widget should be, my xoom fe acts as if the widget was there and I can put it in the trash can and then put it back on the homescreen. I've also had bad luck with the similar YouTube widget. Is this a common issue?

@toadthenewsense,

This is a known issue and other developers have corrected similar widget issues, but CNN and and YouTube continue to be problematic under certain situations. Here is an older thread on the Xoom forum about this:

https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/48657?start=15&tstart=0

You might want to try removing and reinstalling the apps to see if that makes a difference. At the moment, I have CNN on my Xoom FE and have not experienced any widget issues to date.

Thanks doc, sorry about the redundant topic, I should have searched for discussions on the issue before posting.

@toadthenewsense,

No problem, that was an older thread and sometimes tougher to find. I'm not certain why developers have not corrected the widget issues, but it seems to be limited to tablets (not phones). Perhaps they are waiting to see how their apps will work under ICS?
