Feature Request: Disable Dynamic Brightness please!

2011-08-15, 22:41 PM

I would really like to see this 'feature' disabled in a future update.  I can only assume the dynamic brightness was a power saving feature, but every other tablet does not have this behaviour.  I've love to see it gone!

You can simply ignore it and use brightness level you prefer without removing the feature from the OS.

Are you confusing automatic brightness with dynamic brightness?  They are not the same thing.  The display on the Xoom automatically darkens in reaction to how much of a dark image is being shown on the screen.  In other words, the more darkness on the screen, the more dim the backlight becomes.  As soon as you have brighter images, the backlight brightens.  Was it done to 'fake' better black and contrast levels?

This behaviour cannot be turned off, at least in the stock roms.

Could it be, that the automatic dimming of the XOOM works inverted (and therefore wrong)?

E.g. my LCD-TVs automatic dimming is decreasing the backlight, when the ambient is going darker and in case of more ambient light, it is increasing the backlight. IMHO thats the correct behaviour, because when the ambient is darker, the eyes don't need that much backlight.

As far as i see, the XOOMs automatic backlight works vice versa, isn't it?

Cheers, Thorsten

Answering your question ... YES

I didn't know we have such thing in Xoom, I though we have it on TV only which I always turn it off and put it on normal.

Sorry mate.
