How do I put stuff on the SD card?

2011-09-23, 22:52 PM

I have a Canadian Xoom updated to 3.1

When I plug the usb into my laptop I see MZ604Device Storage - no SD Card.

I have an SD card in the device which I can see when I access the 'Files' app.

  • Install the Moto-USB driver (www.motorola.com/myxoom) if not already done
  • Connect the Xoom with the USB cable to the PC (Xoom must be turned on, but can be in stand-by)

  • If your PC recognized the Xoom (normally a "dong ding"-sound on XP), turn on the Xoom and unlock the screen.
  • You will see a pop-up,where you have to choose wether the internal memory or the sd-card memory shoul be made accessible through MTP
  • After choosing, you will see the device contents in your Windows file explorer and can copy files to or from

Regards

I'm not sure if this will help:

I had some issues, based on the age of the PC I was trying to plug my Xoom into after putting in a new 32GB microSCHC card.

I could not get my old PC (9 yr old P4PE machine) to recognize my Xoom, regardless of whether I had installed the Moto-USB driver or not and regardless of whether or not I selected the internal or external SD to access.  It's likely that this older PC doesn't like SDHC cards, or higher capacity USB devices.  I even tried putting the 32GB card in a older USB card reader to no success (although I learned today that SDHC is likely incompatible with this older reader).

However, the Xoom works fine with my newer laptop - both the internal and external SD cards are accessible after installing the Moto-USB drivers (I didn't try without the drivers though).
