Faulty USB/Charging Port

Hello,

Have an 8 month old Xoom 2 WiFi and the Micro USB port has gone faulty.  Essentially the unit will not take a charge unless the charging cable is held in the Micro USB slot firmly upwards, wiggle it down charging stops, move it up again charging begins.

Happens with 2 x official Moto chargers and a Micro USB data cable so the port is physically faulty.

Anyone else seeing this, is it a common problem?

Regards,

GT

Hi GT-IRL,

That sounds like it would need to go for a repair.  Call the tech support, they can organize a repair for you: http://bit.ly/YDZ1We

Hope that helps.

Cheers,

Nicole

Re: Faulty USB/Charging Port

Hello,

As it was under warranty I contacted Motorola.  It took them longer than they promised but I got it back repaired at no charge.

Re: Faulty USB/Charging Port

GT - thank you for the prompt reply. I walked into my local Verizon Wireless store. My phone was still under warranty, so Verizon will replace with refurbished phone. My was black, they said they would replace with a white one as they don't have any in black. They had a black one on display and I asked if I could have that one, they said no due to inventory issue. My replacement should arrive in 3 days.

Again- thanks for your help.

Re: Faulty USB/Charging Port

That can easily be done yourself....at least once warranty is over.

Don't know where to get the plug module, but that should be solvable.

@ArthurDaley

Don't think it is as simple as that as the docket returned with my repaired unit stated that a replacement back cover was needed.

So I think you need to break the back cover to get it off.

Nah, definitely not, check here:

You can see that once the back cover is disassembled you can simply unscrew the USB-module.
