Frequent system hangs and reboots

2012-01-03, 14:17 PM

I am experiencing frequent system hangs and following reboots, as many as 4 reboots during the after work surfing sessions.

I have not been able to find a pattern, in the beginning I thought that it was connected to the browser, so I installed firefox, but the problem persists.

I have seen the problem on different networks.

Does anybody know what to do, or does anybody experience similar symptoms?

I'm having the same Issue with my Motorola Xoom 2 and many other people are having this issue too. I belive it will be fixed when the ICS Update is released for our Xoom 2.

lets hope so, because it really takes away from the experience having to wait for a reboot this often

Yea I agree and I'm not happy how Motorola can leave us like this without releasing an update to fix this issue. And if you don't want to wait for the restart hold Power Button+ Volume Up + Volume Down and wait till the display switches off then power up your Xoom again. This is what I have to do nearly 3 Bloody times a day! :)

ok thanks for the tip this should speed things up a bit.

It would be nice if there was some kind of official acknowledgement from motor that they are aware of the problem and intend to fix it asap

Also I want to point out to Motorola that Asus are releasing lots of updates to fix issues on the new Asus Transformer Prime, even when they are working on ICS for the Transformer Prime they have the time to fix issues for the shipped Honeycomb version. I feel like Motorola don't care about there customers and Asus do! :)

Hey - I posted the exact same thing on the Xyboard forum - (I have the xyboard 10.1 - Xoom 2 but with Verizon in the US :-D ) and I too am getting regular random reboots!

Very frustrating!

Greetings,

I don't have the Xoom 2 or xyboard (yet), but I had experienced similar issues with my Xoom FE when an app conflict cause memory issues and random reboots. This issue sounds like the cause maybe different, but one of the utilities that helped me identify the issues was "SystemPanel" from the market in monitor mode (you have to turn Monitor on in settings). The monitor mode keeps a log of everything running on your tablet, so when a reboot occurs or lock-up, you can go back and read the log files of activity up to that point (and even sometimes the FC application). While it won't stop the issue, it might give you additional clues as to what it causing the reboot.

Thats a great idea Doc... I may look into that!

I started keeping my own log trying to determine a pattern and noting what app I was using when the reboot happened....

My Xyboard 10.1 has rebooted once each day for the last week...  so far, I can tell it does not like Google Currents and the Stock browser, keeping it going for another week or 2 before I pass the log over to Matt for some brainstorming.
