Lost Loud Speaker

2012-07-24, 22:29 PM

Hi guys, I got a XPRT and very happy with it, but after 6 hours of normal use I discovered it has lost its loud speaker. So ringtone, no notification, only vibration.

It had ringtone and played music normally before that.

I haven't installed any new app on my phone yet, I've been too busy with reorganizing my contact list.

I checked all the sound options in the setting and in the music player app.

I did battery pull and left 10 minutes before turn it on again , and factory reset, didn't help.

It has sound if I use headphone, I can hear music from the music player and ringtone preview.

Is my loud speaker dead?

Is this during a call, or when playing music, or both?

I had this happen the other day on my Photon, and it ended up that the volume got turned down all the way sometime.

Try playing some music, and press the volume up button....

Just a thought, not sure if that is it, but worth a try.

Thanks,

J

Sorry to hear you had to get a replacement, but I'm glad your back up and running.

Thanks,

I noticed this problem a while back on phone.

I created my own app to alleviate the problem until a permanent fix is put in.

The app is on the Google Play market if you want to try it.

I have the same problem. No ringtone for calls, no announcement of incoming call, no notifcation on texts and email. Keyboard sounds gone. Speakerphone gone.  I can't get mine to reset with removal of battery either. First time it happened I removed the battery and that got my sounds back. This time no luck.

The only thing I can think of is the use of bluetooth. I use it on my drive home (Mazda3 2010 factory installed) then turn it off. That is when I lost notifications today even though BT is off.

Very annoying--phone is new July 2012. Help!

sadly your app did not fix my problem.  in addition i did factory restore,  did not  give me my sound back. I did contact motorola, what a joke. send in your phone and we will look at it for a week or two prefaced by a big "no warranty on damage, etc."  Phone is brand new, never seen rain, never been dropped. Do we now have to keep them in bubblewrap? Send phone in, no loaner, no replacement. I will deal with a mute phone before I pay for service while waiting for motorola to take a look at it. Motorola used to equal quality. No more. Contacted Boost, waiting on them.

This phone def has a glich. I am disgusted and sick of throwing my money away on crap electronics. But again thanks for designing an App that might work for someone.

That's stinks.  Sometimes it is just a hardware problem and there is not much developers can do.   I know that when I test my old Moto Droid tends to be more hardware based.  It notices that the headset is plugged in and does some hardware routing that I cannot control.

For instance, if I try to turn off the headset via code, the phone knows the plug is physically connected and ignores the code and the signal still gets sent to the headset.
