Mirage Solo: "Battery too hot not charging" message, but not charging

2018-05-27, 8:52 AM

After long periods of use the headset displays the message “battery too hot not charging " even when not charging.

The message appears every few seconds and is very annoying.

It means the last 15% or so of battery life might as well not be there.

Is there a way to disable this message, or will it be fixed soon??

Hi Stuart15,

perhaps after an hour or more, but sometimes with plenty of battery left.

I have the same issue. The time used or percentage left doesn't seem to matter so much as what I'm using the Mirage for. If I watch a video (180 degree, 4k) it seems to display the message fairly early. The earliest being about 45 minutes to an hour of use with 50% battery power left. I guess watching VR 4k videos is taxing, but why is it saying it's "not charging"; cleary it's not because I never have the usb-c cable plugged in during use. Regardless, it is very annoying that the notification described by Stuart15 continues to display every 20 to 30 seconds or so for about 5-10 seconds. I have to just quit watching the video since it appears in the center my FOV. I can't find the setting for it either. I even looked around the developer mode settings for it. No luck. I guess my question is the same: is there a way of disabling, or is it something that could be fixed in the future?

Hi,
Thanks for bringing this up. I'll pass this on to our product team and let you know what they say.
I am not sure there is a way to disable a low battery notification, but I will search my Mirage Solo and try to figure it out.

I appreciate it. It's seems like a "your using to much power and I'm getting hot" type message rather than a "I'm running out of battery" message. Mainly, because like I said it's happened to me with 50% battery life left before. So far it's only when I watch VR movies using SKYBOX VR video player app. (which seems to be the "standard" for video players recommended by most on DayDream 2) Not sure there is much to do if it really IS a hot battery issue, although I really hope there is, unless the software (app or daydream) needs to be managed more efficiently performance-wise. VR video is half the reason I purchased the Mirage Solo. Let me know what the product team thinks and thank you.
