No Mirage Solo board?? Settings menu UNUSABLE even after restart.

2018-05-07, 17:13 PM

1) I am posting here because I cannot find anywhere on the forums to discuss the Mirage Solo. Please move topic if I should post somewhere else. I accidentally enabled 'Touch Debug' in developer settings, which has now broken the entire settings menu and does not allow me to modify ANY settings!

2) Please have a team member that speaks English fully translate this FAQ for the Solo:

https://smartsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/smart/arvr/mirage-solo/za3c/solutions/HT506545

As it stands right now, it is very difficult to read as an English speaker.

You may want to factory reset the system from adb:

Awesome, thank you! I come from desktop VR land so I've been away from Android for a while. Will try that right now.

Unfortunately, the method at that link is not working because recovery is not found. I also appear to not have full access when I am in the adb shell.

A little worried about futzing with recovery/reboot on this device since VR recovery is on a separate branch of Android code. I need some official support here.

Seeing things like this in adb that lead me to believe there's a bug with attempting to handle mouse/touch input in a VR context:

Try this:

Turn the system off. Hold down (-) and press power to boot into fastboot. Select recovery mode from the menu using the (-) (+) and power keys. When the system boots to the Android recovery mode logo, hold down (+) and then press power. Select wipe data.

Re: No Mirage Solo board?? Settings menu UNUSABLE even after restart.

I tried most of the normal reset methods for Android yesterday, and I'm returning the unit after being on the phone with Lenovo support for 45 minutes. I was told:

1. No official way for an end user to reset the device.

2. My problem that I enabled an AVAILABLE developer setting that should not ruin the device by killing my settings menu.

3. Contact Disney. Yes. After 45 minutes on the phone, I realized they assumed I had the Mirage AR Jedi whatever device. Contact Disney.

I love the device, and wish I could continue to use it but what an incredible failure of product support. I won't buy another because it's clear the support infrastructure is not in place. Feeling bad for non-developer end users if they ever hit a snag with the device. :-(

Thank you for the assistance, though.

Chris, sorry to hear that. The setting will be getting removed in an upcoming release to prevent this kind of issue from happening. There is indeed an official end user reset through the recovery mode menu but there needs to be better documentation about this and better support training. If you choose to pick up another unit and run into issues please feel free to reach out to me on twitter @chronarion.

Hey there,

I still have the device and will try this. Last time I attempted to get into recovery mode I ended up with a 'No command' screen. Standby.
