Thank you for taking a time to reply.

Yes, the issue occurred right after the update. I noticed it when I logged in after the reboot request when update process completed successfully.

Regarding my carrier, which is "Cubacel" from "Cuba", it services a national wide GSM/UMTS-HSPA+/LTE Network.

I'll have to check if an UICC solves the issue.

Moto E5 Play doesn't recognize sim... more images.

So, I went to one of my carrier's Service Office and updated the SIM, i.e., a technician replaced my old 64K Cubacel SIM Card with a brand new Cubacel UICC but it didn't solve the problem either. The same symptoms, as posted by me in similar topics remains.

Moto e5 play stuck during factory reset.

During the last security update, I am unable to connect to my mobile network. I subsequently tried to do a factory reset to see if that would help. The deviceis stuck at the screen saying "please wait, this may take a few minutes." for the last 2 hrs. There is no sd card installed.

Try a ,"Soft Reboot".

 

Hold the Volume key in and whilst keeping it held in hold in the Power key until the phone rerstarts with luck?

 

If no good try entering,"Recovery Mode" and try the Factory reset again,

It was the sim. When I removed it, the phone reset as it normally would for a factory reset. Seems like until that last security update is rolled back, the sim slot won't work.

I have seen on other forums whereby a,"System Update" has caused a weak Sim card to fail.My carrier allows me to get another blank Sim card off them and do a,"Sim Swap" so moves all my allowances and number etc over to a new Sim Card.

The sim card itself is working. I checked it in another phone. So it's something to do with the sim slot itself after the last security update.

With the Sim card out try another Factory Reset and see if that gets it?
