5 hours of battery life since Nougat update

2017-02-25, 22:20 PM

I updated my  G4 plus to Nougat over a week ago.

Since the update, I only have 5 hours of battery life with the screen on.

I've done  several factory resets and each one with no automatic restore, and I've cleared the cache partition 5 times.

Something about Nougat just destroys actual screen-on time.

I only use the phone to browse the Internet, with the chrome browser, I'm not playing  games when the screen is on.

Before Nougat, I had 12-17 hours of actual screen-on battery life, now I'm down  to 5 and the screen gets warm to the touch now as well. (Before, it never got warm just web-surfing)

Is a  bug-fix being worked on to correct Nougat's terrible battery drainage? Is there anything I can do?

Before chiming in with useless comments about turning brightness down etc.,  My screen AND phone are set the exact same way they were in Marshmallow, so no, I am not going to decrease those settings to maybe get 1 hour more  out of what used to be a 17 hour phone.

Hi Marc_321,

We appreciate your feedback. Battery drain is common after updating your phone to the latest/major update as it requires more battery to successfully complete its update. We suggest customers observe their phone for days about this behavior and see if there will be some improvement. Since you just updated your device to the latest version, I suggest doing clear cache partition and see if that works.

Jess

hi,
did you read my initial post???
I upgraded to Nougat about 14 days ago, and I've done several factory resets with no automatic restore, and I've cleared the cache partition 5 times.

It was after all that I decided to post about my 5 hours of on-screen battery life.

Hey Moto Jess,

How about you  take 2 minutes to actually read my initial post before you cut and paste the stock answer that you  respond to everyone with?

As stated in  my original  post:

I upgraded to Nougat 14 DAYS AGO,

I have done SEVERAL FACTORY RESETS  and each one was a "set up as new"

AND I've cleared the CACHE PARTITION   5 times.

Now what? Is the Nougat battery-killing bug being worked on?

If 14 days isn't a llong enough waiting time, what is????

Hi Marc_321,

Sorry for the delay. Would you please update your profile with the serial/IMEI/MEID number of your phone? is it okay if we look at your apps? This will help us investigate. Make sure that your Motorola Privacy is enabled.

Hi Marc_321,

Would you please make sure that Motorola Privacy is enabled? I don't see any details there, thanks.
