Has anyone heard or read about how the soak test in Brazil is doing?

They've been soak testing since May or June, with a new build practically landing every month. Too bad the builds have been riddled with bugs that are being addressed too slowly for our liking.

I am confused as to how there are many bugs this late in the game.

Well, another month has gone by.  There is only one and a half months left in 2017.  Do you think we will get updated before the end of the year?

Well, it's been well over a year. Guess they've sold their phones/upgraded to new ones and moved on..... What are you waiting for? :smileytongue:

MONEY!  I don't have the funds to just go out anytime I want and buy a new phone.

Just had a new router installed.  The tech said I would now be able to see both of my wi-fi signals.  I didn't evan know I had 2.  One ends in 2.4, one ends in 5.  The 5 is twice as fast as the 2.4..  He said any device built in the last 5 years should see the 5, but older devices won't.

My G4 Play was built in 2016, it did NOT find the 5.  This means Motorola used older technology when they built my new phone.

BTW - my wifes Moto G5 Plus found the 5.

Oh, and this has nothing to do with the thread....

Actually no. 2.4ghz is more prone to interference then 5ghz. But 2.4 has longer range then 5ghz. You also have to focus on the protocol which is actually more important. a/b/g/n/ac - all have different throughputs.

2.4ghz is not old technology and is superior to 5ghz if distance and obstructions are your issue. That is why no one has removed 2.4ghz radios from any new devices.

Limited development resources and more lucrative uses for limited Android development staff. If you were Lenovo would you (a) allocate your scarce developer resources to bringing Nougat to a cheap, soon to be 2-year-old platform like the G4 Play or (b) to keeping new, much higher margin phones like the X4 debugged and current on the OS? Figure every one X4 customer is worth 4 to 5 G4 Play customers in terms of revenue. I'm not sure that it's very reasonable to expect any handset maker to bend over backwards pushing updates and new versions to $100 handsets. Heck, many higher end handset makers like LG don't do major OS updates at all; they do however stay current within 2 months on security patches. You buy an LG G6, for example, and you will be running Android 7.0 forever. That doesn't seem to bother G6 owners.
