1 Jul 2016 android version 6.0.1

After stellar experience with my Gen 2, the Gen 4 experience with it's promise of updates has been disappointing. Nothing wrong with the phone but the Lenovo priorities I believe are not the same that the real Motorola priorities were, unfortunately. This is probably no different than any other one of the big companies buying out someone else. Realisticly, Lenovo would punt their own product first, and over time the competitors that were bought out will disappear if the support is artificially curtailed. Pity.

Am I right in thinking "xt1642 reteu" is USA firmware?? I'm in the UK and i'm running MPJ24.139-48 (my bootloader is unlocked and but i'm running stock firmware because I didn't want a custom ROM and regretted unlocking the bootloader). Although after researching it, just because my bootloader is unlocked, it shouldn't stop me getting updates when Motorola push them.

have a UK origin phone as well and the Build Number is MPJ24.139-63. SKU-XT1622. Stock ROM and no updates yet. I have a suspicion that Nougat will not happen and if it does, it may only be at a time when the next Gen is already released.

RETEU is the EU upgrade channel.

edit: thanks NX1977, I thought it was after I posted, my bad!

Just done a bit more digging online and I can confirm that my G4 plus is a model XT1642.

Software channel: retgb

Baseband Version: M8952_70009.08.03.45R ATHENE_EMEA_DSDS_CUST

Kernel version: 3.10.84-g06a4fb5

Android version 6.0.1

Patch level: 1 May 2016

Build number: MPJ24.139-48

As far as I can see, i'm on the retgb channel, so if any updates get pushed to UK carriers, I should be able to get them. I really hope there is an update soon. Even if it's not nougat, i'd really like to know my phone is more secure than it currently is.

I'm perplexed as to why some people have been able to get a patch level of July 2016 and i'm stuck with May 2016. It doesn't make sense to me.

I'm going to assume that the EU channel was patched to July and the UK channel didn't get updated after May 2016. Either way, both are severely outdated. Come on Lenovo... even if it's just one last patch... :-(

I bought the phone new then and I have not had any updates. Whatever is on the phone is what it came with.

Rather disappointed with their updates or lack thereof on Gen 4.

Ìf people could read the log of the monthly exploits that are discovered and fixed a majority would probably just switch their phones off.  According to The Identity Theft Resource  Center, forget the version updates, security updates are the most important update you need.
