I agree. I read one of the mod's posts saying that the vulns arent serious and he works in security etc etc. I worked as a security analyst for 2 years at a huge global company and let me tell you: attackers are out there. They'll attack anything they can in an attempt to steal your data. Even if they don't take your data in a financial sense, they'll take whatever they can. I could get extremely deep and technical but that's besides the point.

If Lenovo don't take security seriously, then I don't take Lenovo seriously. At the end of the day, we've paid a premium price for the G4 Plus. It's close to stock android. There really shouldn't be any excuses or defence of this practice. At best, it's shocking. At worst: it's extremely poor and enough to make you never buy another Lenovo phone. That's how serious this is.

I don't expect security updates forever, but it's now February 2017 and my phone is stuck on May 2016's patch. That's almost 12 months with no patch. 12 month's worth of vulnerabilities and my data is on that phone. Personal photographs of friends and family, emails, contact numbers etc.

I sincerely hope Lenovo are going to make it up to us all soon, otherwise I simply can't buy another Lenovo device - it's that simple.

I think many owners are of the same mine. Avoiding another Lenovo device is my plan also, but for every one of us that's sworn off Moto's, there are probably 3 to 5 more that only look at the price and the name and are completely blind to the lack of security concerns from this company. It's like an endless supply of Lemmings walking off the edge.

Owners may be of the same mind.   Prospective buyers (e.g. of the G5) probably won't research Lenovo's track record of software updates on the G4.   So.. I don't think it will hit sales.   For most folk, sales are driven by carrier deals, price and features ....and not software update frequency.

Thanks for the link. Sort of explains things. Bought my Moto G4 Plus 64/4 thinking that along with regular updates from Moto I could go a couple of years.

So quite disappointed with Lenovo's support.

I hope future buyers of Moto/Lenovo read these forums before buying. Perhaps a few lines dropped to the tech press like androidpolice as well.

It's been asked and answered a hundred times. No one here knows when you will get it.

Its a shame that Lenovo seemingly has no interest in scanning their user forums for issues and at least try and respond. The Motorola take over doesn't bode well for those of us that knew what we had in the product. They either restore the support I became accustomed to or this is my last Motorola and believe me, Lenovo won't then be on my list of HW either.

What support issue do you have that needs a response?

If you are referring to update status for os or security updates, you can go back to posts for Google era phones (or earlier) and see that the message is the same - no dates are ever given
