I wish a phone manufacturer ever made an Android smartphone that could be advertised like "Timely security patches and Android updates for at least 3 years" and "Large, 6000mAh, user removable battery"... But unfortunately no manufacturer does that. They just keep adding more features, more sensors, completely useless ultra-high-resolution screens (who can see the difference between a 400ppi and a 600ppi screen?) and even more powerful processors (which I'm not interested as I don't play 3D games on my phone) while in fact the most important things for most users are that 1) the phone is safe and running the latest software and 2) the phone can be used all day (or even two days) long, and after a year or two when the battery is only 60% or so of the original capacity it can be simply replaced by the user...

Oh, and please please please leave the 3.5mm headphone jack in place. I don't want to use wireless headphones nor easy to lose headphone adapters...

The idea about long lasting batteries is good and having user replaceable batteries would be good too, but companies want to sell you a new device every year to keep them in business and make profits.

Now regarding the tweets from Moto_UK - Are they teasing Nougat?? Or the G5 range? I suspect the latter.

Which version are you on? I installed it last week but had to remove it. Couple apps kept crashing the phone (facebook and one or two others). Gone back to stock (though now I'm stuck on the May 16 security patch and not the most, ahem, up-to-date number!) to make sure my apps were working.

What use I got on Lineage I was fairly impressed with.

I'm on 6.0.1 Marshmallow with July 2016 patch level. Official firmware.

I don't install custom ROMS anymore after I bricked my Moto G. It's far too risky in my opinion.

But as someone said earlier - it's shameful that a bunch of developers can provide weekly updates for a phone but the Manufacturer of said phone cannot even push out updates every 6 months. Shocking.

But other models have been getting them. Why not the G4 range?
