Re: Nougat update news for ALL G4

I installed Lineage OS and got a taste for what the OS could be like. Wow. It was faster, battery life actually seemed to have ever so slightly improved. So why am I back?? Well, unfortunately, encryption and fingerprint scanner issues ruined the experience. I couldn't encrypt and for some reason, I could only add 1 fingerprint.

I'm back on stock rom and I am now eagerly awaiting Nougat. I'm still extremely likely to switch to another brand, but i'm wondering if Lenovo has had issues with Noutgat for the G4 Plus and that's what the delay is?

Again, it really, really highlights the points we've all made. Lenovo NEED to be communicating to us. Getting any form of communication is better than not getting any at all. I personally think if Lenovo did communicate with us better and did push updates out, they'd destroy most of the competition in future. It's a shame to think that the Moto phones could lose sales by something as simple as communication and updates.

Encryption on Lineage is easily fixed by doing the following:

On TWRP 3.0.3-1 go in 'wipe', then 'advanced wipe' and select 'Data', press 'Repair or Change File System' and then 'Change File System' to EXT4

Encryption doesn't work with the f2fs file system that it uses by default. Can't help with the fingerprint scanner though.

Thanks, I tried that but when it boots up it says "encryption unsuccessful". From what I see on the web it's a known issue. I decided to just come back to stock and just give it another few days and hopefully....hopefully we'll see something here in the UK.

In all honesty, I prefer not to be part of a "soak" test. Rather give me the official stable release.

The only way to get a response from anyone working for them is via social media.

And currently they're being bombarded with anger

Hardly surprising. I've decided I'm not updating to whatever 7.0 release may come our way due to the reported battery issues as my battery life is well below expectation as it is.

I'll wait for the Nokia 6 release and then sell on the Moto G4 Plus.

I think it's safe to say people are fed up. Over the last few days, I've noticed a huge increase in UK customers now bombarding Moto UK and i've just seen probably the funniest reply ever from moto uk

'We work hard to provide fast updates'
