What is the exact, in detail, fix for the Ghost Touch problem?

2017-03-13, 8:53 AM
The Ghost touch problem started with the Moto G3 series and has plagued every variation of the G4 series. If Lenovo knows what the problem is and exactly how to fix it, why did this problem continue to exist from the G3 series right through to the current G4 series?

How do we know the G5 series also won't have this Ghost touch problem???

I have bought Moto g phones ever since the G2, and I'm going to buy a brand new phone in July. If I can't get an exact answer to these questions ( besides the stock "submit your phone for repair") than I will never again buy any phone from Lenovo or Moto. And I'll do my best to spread the word about these faulty phones far and wide.

When the phone is submitted for repair, EXACTLY what is done?

Is the problem caused by a faulty component?

Does Lenovo remove the bad component and replace it with a different, more robust component?

(instead of just replacing the faulty component with a new/unused IDENTICLE, i.e. no better, component?)

Does Lenovo know exactly what causes the Ghost touch problem, or are they "still studying"  Re: guessing?

Some websites say the turbo-charger is the problem and that everyone who uses it will eventually have the Ghost touch problem. Is this the case? Should I be using a different, no-turbo, lower amp charger?

Some websites say it is a software problem and the repair centres simply reinstall/reflash the firmware. Is this true?

I want a specific answer as to what causes the Ghost touch issue and what service centres do to fix it.

After 10 months, (and one update to Nougat) my phone has started having this Ghost touch problem, and I NEVER use the phone while it is charging.

This phone has been Factory re-set and set-up as a new phone at least 10 times and has had 20 cache partitions clearings since the update to Nougat, so let's move on from those useless suggestions and actually answer the questions I've asked, in specific detail.

And hey, Moto Jess: don't even respond to this question unless you have read every word of it and are going to give a more specific and detailed answer than your stock "submit your phone for repair".

I appreciate the answer, but that's not exactly a lot of details.  What is the faulty hardware component?

What made it faulty? What do they replace it with?(the same component, or an upgraded, more robust component that won't suffer the same fate?)

Since you exchanged yours (not an option for me) how do you know your replacement phone won't suffer from the exact same problem in a few months?

My phone lasted 10 months into a 12-month warranty before whatever piece of faulty hardware it is that causes the problem, started acting up.

So far the lead theory on it being a hardware problem is that the turbo-charger eventually causes this for everyone. I would love to know if this is the case. (hopefully it isn't)

I want to know the route cause, and the steps Lenovo have taken to correct this problem and completely eliminate it. Since the Ghost touch problem carried on through two model years of the G series phones, how do we know it won't also be present in the G5?

Lenovo didn't eliminate and prevent the Ghost touch problem with the G3 phones, and they didn't solve and eliminate the Ghost touch problem with the G4 phones....

I'm trying to decide  if I will trust and buy another brand new Moto phone from Lenovo in a few months (and they seem to be ignoring this thread completely)

Which is why I've posted here and am waiting for someone like Moto Tom, or Moto Anne to answer.

I have the Turbo Charger (the one that usually comes with Moto X) from the beggining and... no ghost touch.

I upgraded to Nougat too and it has... issues, but not this one.
