I have performed proximity sensor test and got exactly same results as @praveen02s. It's working just fine.
Nothing is blocking the proximity sensor like tempered glass or case. In the help application while doing proximity sensor test, it is working fine. But when I call someone again the screen turns off and it won't turn on again untill someone disconnects the call.

It's a long time since my previous message at this thread.
But are you sure the error is caused by the proximity sensor?
Today was my 1st visit to this forum in a long time. Then i saw someone else with exactly the same problem as i had with the previous model.
Look at my post! Today I started up the old G4 for the 1st time in months. Then I went to Apss and the settings for Phone.
Disable Show Silently option if it is enabled.
I disabled this and issue was fixed for me. And notice that this was caused by updating Android. In two different models! This is something Lenovo should be aware of! Same problem occur when Android is uptdated. For both G4 half a year ago - and now also for G5!

Friends, I had this same issue as you all after updating to 7.1.1 and I fixed it using this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiledirection.proximitysensorreset&hl=en&rdid=co... .
Hope it works for you!
