Long press on home screen and then press on settings.

Go to voice -> ok google detection and then turn off trusted voice.

Problem will get solved.

Its not a bug. It just recognizes your voice but its not safe. As the feature is not accurate it may unlock even with others voice. Better turn off trusted voice. The voice command works even from lock screen works if your turn on option to Ok google from any app.

Re: Moto g4 plus "ok google" unlocks phone directly without authentication

Just spotted this because I posted another discussion where i'm desparate to get this feature back! OK Google would also open my phone the first couple days. I loved it! It bascailly turned my phone into the Amazon Echo! I could be across the room and just say, "Ok Google, What's the weather". But after two days i think it got a software update and stopped working. So, even though I'm in my 'trusted place', I can't open the phone with OK google. What's more, it's such a pain to open the swipe screen anyway.. If you don't get it right first time it disapears, then you have to click the button to brinng it back, and repeat theprocess.    The screen is large and because you have to swipe a long way half the time your palm hits the screen and cancels out the procedure. I understand you don't want to butt dial, but with all the sensors you'd think it'd know it's in a trusted place and sitting flat on  a table, so therefore no reason for the lock or the swipe screen to begin with.

I actaully find this one of the only gripes I have with the phone. But it's a major gripe. Instead of instant handsfree access while I'm , say,  making a morning coffee, I have to do a song and dance or plug it back in.  One workaround i have is to leave the screen on for many minutes; but that has it's own drawbacks too. I want to be able to shut off  the screen and have also instant handsfree access.

Can you try to retrain Ok Google detection? This sometimes happen if you have some other third party voice recognition like Cortana (I personally had this issue) installed...
If you have such softwar - you might try to uninstall it and check. It is working fine for me for last 4 odd months :)

It does work when it's open or plugged in, so I think the voice is fine. But I did install some added voice functionality app: Commandr.  I just uninstalled it; no chainge. But I'll try retraining and restarting, etc..

That's the what mine works also. I can't remember whether it worked before the last update or not. Like you, I wish it would unlock the phone.

I was thinking about this agin. Not just OK Google, but the camera is meant to open the device, as well as waving over it or something, the trusted devices, trusted locations, etc...   My fitbit does indeed keep the device unlocked, but it does nothing opens the device exct OK Google, but only when it's plugged in.

I'm not sure if all the trusted methods are something Android OS has or something that's meant to be part of Motorola's software.
