It has occurred since day one.  I'm guessing the 911 issue might have be related to the calling issue that has been plaguing Verizon customers though.

That's really strange because to get 911 calls to work you had to turn off enhanced calling also. Moto probably hoped the 911 patch would fix this too. Oh well I've moved on. It's a shame that a phone this nice is just forgotten and it's users ignored by Moto.

I think the 911 Fix was supposed to be so you could call 911 with enhanced LTE turned on.  Apparently it didn't work because a member of this forum experienced garbled connections calling 911 after the fix.

 

I bought this phone as a hold-me-over, for a year, until the next wave of flagships comes out during the holiday season.  So far this phone has managed to cross Motorola off my list when considering a flagship phone & caused me to cancel a purchase on the Motorola 360 sports watch.  It's kind of funny since a big part of the reason I went android was to get a good smart sportswatch phone combo.

So Moto gave us the ability to make enhanced LTE 911 calls, we just couldn't understand the 911 operater.

I am in the same boat. I bought this as a hold-me-over until the next flagships come out.

I don't really understand the odd customer service response on this. I would expect more regular updates, even if to say, "Nothing new to report, we're still working on it."

Well I pulled the plug on Verizon and switched to Sprint.   The G5+ seems to be working great now.  Switching dropped my monthly expense about 40% so that was a benefit too.   The Sprint rep said they stopped selling Motorola because of the failure rate and lack of customer service.  He really didn't want to migrate my phone, but my wife is pretty persuasive

and now the G5+ is working great.  I tend to believe this choppy call problem is more a Verizon issue than Motorola or a combination of the two that will never work itself out.   Two horrible companies in bed with each other to screw the consumer.

I also have the problem. Turning off lte in settings does help here on Cape Cod. I hope it works when I travel
