It appears to be related to locale rather than individual phones. They couldn't replicate it at their Chicago offices, for instance. Matt is hoping it will be released in the next few days, but no promises. I think they won't to thoroughly test the fix. I am glad that I at least have a way to use the phone until the problem is solved.
I know just enough to be dangerous!

These phones are not approved by Verizon because they did not pass Verizon certification tests. Otherwise, Verizon would be selling them as well. This is a software issue.

I am on the Sprint Network. First call had the scratchy noise similar to a worn out speaker. Made another call that night and same noise, and person on other end said my voice did not come through clear. Purchase dat 07/04/17. Tenner

This is crazy. I'm out in AZ and it's happening on my phone as well. I've had it for a few months. Everything else is great, but the calls suck. And even if I do switch the LTE off (or sometimes on) the problem is only fixed for a call or two. I've gotten to the point of trying to restart if I know I need to make a long phone call. It sounds like the person on the other end is bouncing up and down in a vehicle. It's not even every other word. It's parts of every other word. Very frustrating and also hoping to hear about a fix soon. Crazy to me that they are unable to replicate it. Maybe try purchasing one off of Amazon?

I've finally come to the point where I am going to return my phone. The voice and calling problems are too much  to endure for a new phone. And now I see a post that the G5 Plus didn't pass the Verizon certification? If that is true then I don't know if this phone will ever work properly on Verizon. On Amazon website someone posted that their new Moto E4 would not work on Verizon and the Verizon store was unable to help them. Don't know if it's because the E4 is a new model or if that phone has the same problem as the G5 Plus. I don't recall having so many problems with a phone. So I just bought a new Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5 for $140 on eBay. Yes it's an older phone but it works great and voice quality is fantastic. I bought a new phone to make calls primarily and what good does it do to have a phone with poor voice quality? I got tired of waiting when I need a working phone.

I got the phone from Best Buy right when it came out and am using Verizon.  Had sound problems right out of the box. After much work, clearing the cache fixed the problem.  For a while. Has happened a 3rd time and clearing the cache no longer helps. Worthless as a phone if you can't hear the other person. I can't afford to miss phone calls. Should have returned to BB right away. Motorola will only repair/replace which is not acceptable for a defective product. Will switch back to the Samsung and send this in for repair and when returned will sell at a loss to some poor sucker. No one in my family, relatives nor immediate circle of friends will be buying motorola in the future.

You can still take the phone back to best buy. I just did. My G5 Plus was shutting down randomly. I took it back to best buy, they gave me back store credit for a new phone using the manufacturers 90 day warranty. I also had a bestbuy protection plan as well, which has now carried over to my new phone. So in the end I replaced my G5 Plus with a new G5 Plus from best buy using the motorola 90day warranty. I could have easily have used the store credit towards any phone I wanted. I like the G5 Plus for the price. The HD voice needs to be fixed though, and I look forward to when it is. Hopefully soon.

 

I'm tempted to take it back again though and get a G5s Plus ;)
