I'd like to help get to the bottom of this. 

 

  1. When you have the choppy audio, are you using Advanced Calling/Enhanced 4G LTE?
  2. When the choppy audio starts, does it then happen on all incoming/outgoing calls?
  3. If you have the issue only when using Advanced Calling/Enhanced 4G LTE, can you try turning it off to see if the choppy audio persists?
  4. Finally please make sure your forum profiles are updated with the current IMEI or SN from your new devices.

1.  I have this disabled.  I also just removed it from my phone plan on verizon's website (HD calling) as well but haven't had time to test yet.

2.  It happens on both but strangly enough the end user can hear me perfectly

3.  It didn't help me.  Bluetooth seems to aggrivate the issue for me but it still occurs without it.

4.  Done.

 

Also, it happens on two phones.  I originally thought it was an issue with my particular unit so I swapped it out.

  1. Location (city or state) and Time you encountered the problem.
  2. Screenshot of the dialer screen when you see the problem. Please blur out any personal information, (Names/Phone Numbers)

1.  Boston and Burlington, MA are the two places that have been heavily tested.

2.  So far it hasn't happened again since I removed that HD calling feature on Verizon's website.  I'm keeping my fingures crossed.

 

It is still a garbled mess when using hands free in my car but I'm trying to isolate the issues.

Tom,

1) I have had advanced calling enabled, but the issue has occurred when the other party is not on the Verizon network. My understanding is that VoLTE only works with other Verizon network subscribers.

2) Once the choppy calling starts, it seems to persist until I reboot the phone. I say "seems," because I generally reboot the phone fairly quickly since that is the only way I have found to make the issue go away for a while. It always seems to return within a few hours.

3) I'm going to try turning it off, in addition to the other settings recommended a few posts up, and will update.

4) Information updated.

Forgot to mention before that along with changing my network settings I initially switched from an iPhone 6 as well, and I went to Verizon store to replace the iPhone 6 sim w a new nano SIM. Hope it helps. It remedied my phone call quality issues.

I have same results on my G5 Plus.

They can hear me, I can't hear them (too choppy).

My previous G4 did not have this problem.

 

Per MotorolaTom I am adding additional info:
Calling while in Chardon and Mentor, OH.

It is almost every voice call that I have made in the past 10 days.

As others have posted, sometimes the call starts ok, but when it degrades to choppy, it does not seem to recover.

I am going to try the settings that TEE149 has suggested and I will repost.

Generally, the Smart part of the phone is excellent.  Much better performance than the G4. The voice calls suck and if not fixed soon I will return the phone to Amazon.

Yesterday (April 12, 2017), I set my Cellular network settings as tee149 suggested and that seems to have resolved the problem, hopefully for good.   As you can see from the screenshot, Bluetooth is on as well.   One day of in and outbound calling without any issues.
