It IS regional. I got my sim card from a Verizon store when I got the phone.

I know just enough to be dangerous!

Re: 5 Plus on Verizon - very poor call quality

We're in East Texas and bought our G5 Plus phones two weeks ago at Best Buy, due to price, features, and our experience with the G4.  We had to get new micro sim chips at the Verizon store as well. We're also experiencing horrible call quality with landlines and other cell users, including Verizon users. It's hit and miss and very discouraging, because it doesn't happen consistently even with the same caller.  We've disabled Enhanced 4G LTE Mode and that has seemed to help. This phone is otherwise excellent, but since it is intended to be a phone, the calling feature should not be holding it back. Hoping for an update very soon.

I installed the May update as well. Then I tried a few calls with lte enabled. I could not understand a word of what they were saying. I turned off lte and subsequent calls were clear.

I live in the Phoenix area.

Preferred network type setting is Global. I saw some other settings in preferred network, but I have always used Global. Don't know if that helps. It's weird the phone works great in some regions and not others. There's gotta be a root cause...

Did that, had to disable it due to poor call quality. Even after installing the May update.

I also  have this problem, all times of the day.  Other caller hears me fine.  My location is Northern  NJ.  Phone purchased from jet.com, unlocked, USA Phone.  Verizon network.  Only disabling 4G Enhanced solved the problem.  Need 4G features of course.
