Re: 5 Plus on Verizon - very poor call quality

I just hope they fix this phone with an update here pretty quickly. Other than this call quality problem it is a great phone and that $179.99 Amazon Prime deal was a heck of a deal. If they fix the call quality problem here pretty quickly, I will be happy.

Lenovo is notorious for not being good about updates and fixes for issues with their products though. That's what worries me. Lenovo will ruin the brand like they did with the IBM Thinkpad. This budget phone could be just what they need to regain some market share and build the brand back up, but if they don't support it properly it will only piss a lot of people off and forever turn them away from Motorola. My first cell phone was a StarTac. My dad had the precurser to that phone. I had a V60, a Razor, a Droid. I always considered Motorola to be a great brand. Then Lenovo bought the company and they don't even call it Motorola anymore, just Moto. It's not the same company. Not by a long shot. Sorry to see that.

Me too. I love my MXPE, but they stopped all updates and I thought the G5 Plus was a good upgrade, but how do you not fix such an important issue 2+ months later? Just returned my phone, popped my SIM into my MXP and ordered a GS7 on sale. I'm upset since I stood by (original) Motorola products.

Unfortunately I'm looking for another phone too. Can't live with the voice quality and uncertainty of when/if Lenovo will fix the problem. Can you tell me who has the GS7 on sale? I may look that direction also. Thanks.

I just purchased the GS7 from samsung.com on sale, I think the purchase price was $434 + tax, it is on backorder so I should be getting it in about 10 days. My husband's had the phone for a while and he is happy with it.

I have one Moto G5 Plus 64 GB from Amazon (special deal for prime customers) that does not seem to have the issue (but I don't spend a lot of time in conversation on that phone). However, I've now had two Moto G5 Plus 64 GB from Egghead and both had this issue. The settings on all 3 phones were the same and the nano SIM was obtained for them from the same place. Ran into the god awful call quality this morning on a non Amazon Prime Moto G5 Plus 64GB NPNS25.137-35-5 version on the VZW network. Up until today I didn't have a problem with being able to hear others (other than low volume on one or two calls). Today however received a call (from a local landline) and the other person was fading in and out. Hung up the call and made another call. Same problem, other person fading in and out. They could apparently hear me fine though. Disabled Enanced 4G LTE Mode, then reneabled it and the issue seems to have gone away for now.

Funny thing. I used my wife's iPhone 7 and had the same kind of choppy call issue a couple of days ago. I think part of this is definitely a Verizon issue.

How do you disable enhanced 4G LTE Mode? I can't seem to find it on mine (Amazon Prime Moto G5 Plus 64 GB).

Has Motorola provided a date the fix is expected?  Loss of voLTE is not acceptable.

Did you install the 911 update on any or all of them?
