Re: 5 Plus on Verizon - very poor call quality

Received my 5Plus from Amazon a couple of days ago and the only (albeit major) issue is that phone calls are extremely poor to the point that a conversation is impossible.   I have Verizon as my provider.

The Verizon SIM was originally used with an Iphone 6, then a Moto G4, and now the G5 Plus.   I had no call issues with either the iPhone 6 and the G4 - same Verizon SIM.

Any thoughts/ideas/etc on resolving this will be much appreciated!

Count me in for exchange for g5s if it does not have this issue....

I ran lte discovery on a samsung s8 also on verizon right next to my phone. No neighbor cell sites showed up with pci 000, the samsung did not have any issues making lte calls with only 2 neighbor cells.

Count me in for an exchange of a NEW G5 PLUS ( NOT USED ) that works with Verizon without these issues.  It's the least they can do. We have been waiting long enough.

I'll take a g5s plus as a replacement if it does not have the issue with voice quality...

Did anyone from Lenovo say anything about a g5s replacement? I don't remember that.

No, no one from moto said that. One person just said it as an idea and everyone started agreeing.

Wow... I mean... yeah. Of course everyone would be ok with getting a new phone that works to replace a phone that isn't working.

People saying that isn't adding anything to the conversation, and it is only making this thread bigger and muddier for the people who are using it to try and diagnose the issue or familiarizing themselves with what has been tried.

So, if folks could stop doing that, that'd be great...

I agree that it is not adding anything to the forum. I do however think it's a nicer way to express our discontent with this phone and the fact that they're coming out with a special edition version and didn't even get the first release to work correctly for everyone. So instead of profanities flying I guess people are just asking Motorola to own up to their short comings and give them a different phone (which may or may not have the same issue).

At this point it's not like Motorola is adding anything valuable here either other than a "we're one day closer" comment every week or so. Motorola needs to go back to their old model of a few phones a year and focus on quality, not just tossing out a new phone every month that they don't have time to properly vet.

Currently looking into the asus zenfone ar, I really liked how minimal Motorola customized android. But if the asus phone can make VoLTE calls and gives Tango as an added bonus, I might be able to deal with a highly customized andoid OS.

Just checking in. No news but to my mind, every day brings us closer to the release. Sorry I don't have a firm ETA.

Hey Matt,

Just wanted to check in here since it has been almost 2 weeks since any update, Is this a lost cause at this point? Is further information needed from us in order for developers to create a patch? What is the hold up on the progression of the patch? I think we are due a little better explanation on why this is taking so long. Especially since we were asked to provide our IMEI numbers in our profile to be part of a beta, we haven't even reached the beta phase of a patch after you stated developers found the issue. So just trying to understand here, I will probably be buying a new phone this week but at least want to try to fight for this for people who don't have that option and are stuck with this phone and so that I can at least consider buying another motorola phone again in the future by seeing the company does care about addressing the issues their customers face.

Hoping to hear some good news from you soon. Thanks.

I'm guessing we will never hear another thing from them.

I have been going to review sights like Cnet and responding in the comments section about this phone.

I'm surprised none of them have picked up the story to let people know there is a problem.

But most of those sights probably rely on free stuff from the big company's to review, so they won't bite the hands that feed them.
