Very choppy calls on the G5 plus.   I love the term pocket computer because that is exactly what it is currently.  What happened to Motorola Tom?   I'm on verizon network, purchased phone from Amazon,  Ontario, Or , Boise, ID. Weiser, Id the choppy calls just never stop.  I writing this so Motorola knows there is a problem.

It seems like we may have been abandoned by Motorola support..

The most effective thing we could do at this point is email the sites where you read about the phone.  They can update their reviews to let users know the phone isn't fully compatible with Verizon.

Re: 5 Plus on Verizon - very poor call quality

If it  can't make calls it's a terrible deal.  We got this phone for my sister and it has this issue, although her's can be made to work by turning off the Enhanced 4G LTE mode in cellular network settings.  I don't care what the price is, if it can't make a legit call, it's a complete piece of junk.  This is the second device with this issue so it's definitely a Motorola software issue for sure.  They have really taken a plunge into the sewer since being acquired by Lenovo.  If they don't fix this issue soon this device will be going back and I will be done with Lenovo / Motorola for the foreseeable future.  Very disappointed with their new devices and the slow nature in which they release updates.  I am still waiting for Noughat on my MXPE and Verizon has devices that are already getting it.  When you're being out paced by Verizon, you know your sucking.

Are you kidding me!  He just said it works perfectly in two different phones, one of which is a Motorola G4, the SIM is fine. This is clearly a Motorola issue not the SIM or Verizon.

Edit:  So it appears that Moto is owning up to this now.  Lets hope a fix comes out soon or this will be the second device I will have had to send back.

Yeah, I'm done for now.  I put the SIM card back into my Droid Turbo which works fine, just doesn't hold a good charge anymore.  This evening the G5 told me the cellular network was not available and then it went to emergency calls only.  I can't depend on it for a phone and since I'm travelling this weekend, I want something reliable.  I hate this because I really like the phone.  I will have to decide whether I return it or hold out to see if a fix comes along soon.

I wouldn't wait until the point in which it can't be returned. I don't trust Motorola to get a fix out anytime soon. I'm giving them 2 weeks and then it's going back and I'll be bailing on Motorola.

As many others have pointed out, this seems to be an issue with the "Ehanced 4G LTE Mode" while on Verizon's network. This is pretty unacceptable as Verizon is literally the most popular cellualr network in America, and you can NOT make phone calls with the basic factory settings (Ehanced 4G LTE Mode enabled). If you toggle this configuration in the phones settings, it is possible to make phone calls but the quality of the call is much lower than you would hope for.

As if the problem with not being able to call 911 wasn't bad enoug, adding not being able to make basic phone calls to the mix is 100% unacceptable.

I plan on returning this phone and will likely recommend that friends and family avoid Motorola products going forward
