Re: 5 Plus on Verizon - very poor call quality

Amazon should grant you the return. I returned my sister's after 2 and a half months. I believe they are aware of this piece of garbage and are allowing those with issues to return it. Don't wait any longer, that phone is complete garbage for Verizon users. Not sure it's too good for non Verizon customers, they probably are experiencing some of the other issues expressed here. Send that piece of garbage back like I did.

Purchased this phone direct from Motorola last week. Just signed up with Verizon and am being offered the NPN25.137-35 update. I haven't actually installed the update yet, but if I'm being offered this update will I not be able to get the NPN25-137-43-5 update?

I think 137-35 is the safe one. 137-35-5 is the one you DON'T want.

When I set up my wife's phone last month I got one update. That was with teh SIM installed and appears it wan't the May updatethat people forced by removing the SIM.

Then it got the latest the day it was released.

Working just fine for my wife. Not garbage.
None of the issues I've seen mentioned are affecting her phone.
I'd hear no end to it if they were.

Granted we didn't force her phone to take an update by removing the SIM.

You're clearly in an area that isn't affected by the problem, or aren't on Verizon. Or you may have a phone with the update that fixes the issue. For those that have received the fix, their phone now works correctly, except for the other nagging issues that some are experiencing. The fact it took as long as it did to get a fix out, and that the fix still doesn't apply to folks that took updates in an attempt to fix their phone, says Motorola sucks! We replaced my sister's G5 Plus with a Moto Z Play Droid and that had issues too. Motorola is heading towards the sewer now that Lenovo has acquired them. Won't buy from them again. I own the Moto X Pure, and other than the terrible battery life, it's been good. My device still doesn't have Android 7, updates have been ridiculously slow, even on a device that runs pure Android. I'm gonna move on to someone else for my next device.

I HATE that face dialing thing. It's worse than having to disable Enhanced 4g LTE mode. It happens to me all the time, especially if I'm doing something like looking something up on my computer while I talk and am holding the phone up with my shoulder. It has happened on so many business calls. It is completely unacceptable, definitely one of the worst problems on the Moto G Plus.

I installed the drupe dialer app, and I no longer have to worry about the face dialing. Shouldn't have to do that, but at least it works.  We can nickname the G5+ "The Workaround"

Using a Verizon MVNO. As I said, we didn't force the update. But the other issues claimed aren't affecting her.

To call the phone garbage because a few have problems ignores the thousands that are using it w/o issue.

Not defending Lenovo and their slow updates. I hate what they are doing to part of Motorola (which I've liked since the 80s) just as I hate what they've done to the Thinkpad line.

But I won't call a product garbge because I have a bad one or experence issues. If so every computer, phone and car ever made would be garbage. They all have bad examples.

I have given up on Moto/Lenovo. Even though they have some cool phones.

Lenovo is horrible. Their track record shows how they take great company's and turn them into just tolerable devices.

I'm never buying a Lenovo branded device again.

Tom,

Still waiting on a response from earlier post. Is there going to be a update for us that had the may update or are we waiting for the Oreo update? It feels like you guys check in every full moon and say some crap, then disappear. Are you hoping we will just forget about it and move on? If it was your phone, I'm sure you would want it fixed.
