Re: 5 Plus on Verizon - very poor call quality

Yikes -- that's not a very good answer.  I have Hangouts, Hangouts Dialer, WhatsApp, and a plethora of other services that can make calls over WiFi/3G/4G.  That's not the functionality for which I'm looking.

Wi-Fi Calling, built into the phone, used to make calls directly through your carrier's network and from your cell #, is what I'm trying to enable.

When I got my update, advance setting was not on my phone either. Called Verizon and they said it was on there. They then patched me to Motorola. Motorola had me factory reset phone. Then there it was in my network settings.

Thanks @Ryeman75! Was that Wi-Fi Calling that showed up on your phone?

Got ya -- yeah...I have that option after enabling it on my Verizon account and flipping the switch in the "Testing" menu. I'm looking for Wi-Fi Calling, which is apparently separate.

There was another area on here about WiFi calling. You have a app called device help. I found it in the play store. It is already on your device. Open it up and type in WiFi calling. Should help you.

Forgive me for answering at this late date and also for not reading every single post in this thread, but there is an app called "Device Help" built in to the g5 image. you open that and then type in "wifi calling" and look for "Make calls over wifi" this will give you basic information and also provide a few other links: "Add internet calling account (SIP), "Set phone for internet calling (SIP)", and "Use internet calling (SIP). This is a good place to start. Also, you can go to settings, Wireless and Networks, "Wi-Fi Calling" and turn it on there. All that being said, it also depends on your provider as to whether it will work for you. you might want to use a search engine and enter the name of your provider and the words "register for wifi calling" like this: "providername register for wifi calling" and follow the instructions for signing up with your provider.

Hope this helps someone else who stumbles upon this place instead of reading the "help" section on their device.

However, I still don't see anywhere to enable Wi-Fi Calling.  I checked in the phone dialer (menu --> settings -- calls) where I thought it might be.

I understand other people with Verizon in the US have Wi-Fi Calling working on this phone, so I'm hopeful someone can tell me how/where to find it.

Pretty sure wi-fi calling on Verizon uses the Verizon Messaging app (forget the name as it was not supported on any phone I owned when I was a Verizon customer).

I don't recall any phone using OS services for wi-fi calling on Verizon.

There is no patch or fix from Moto on the low volume issue extensively complained about and discussed in the OTHER thread. As indicated in that other thread one of the unofficial workaround is to root the device and modify the firmware to increase the volume levels.

The initial problems discussed in this thread had nothing to do with volume level, instead it was related to VoLTE on Verizon Wireless here in the United States. That VoLTE issue has since been rectified/fixed for most with an update released to Verizon Wireless (and possibley other users) here in the United States.
