@nik2208

If you have tried everything that should mean you also requested a service ticket with motorola or tried to downgrade back.

I take it you have not......

So yes tell if all went OK. Only complainers distort the picture.

It went OK for me - battery life is noticeably better since the Oreo update.

Edit: don't know why my reply is showing as part of the quote!

@davebr,

You replied in the quote thats why.

Thank you for positive feedback back you upgraded OK.

I noticed that other brands of phones have these Oreo comments. Saw them for famous One plus already just now.

Obvious the problem is not Lenovo/Motorola related. Because other brands kick in now. And now it comes hard to piece together. I truly suggest that if steps outlined in this thread within warranty rules are not effective you get a service ticket and let Motorola have a closer look on those particular phones. Demanding a stray run cat fix for all motos would be disastrous.  I suspect Oreo won't accept certain previous configuration with certain apps. It will be hard for Motorola to diagnose that if all phones are factory reset before repair. Which is a standard procedure for privacy reasons by law. If you don't wipe, they will! So ladies and gentlemen try procedures outlined in correct order as described in this thread, skipping custom ROMs, titanium, and downgrading before calling Motorola.

From yesterday onwards Oreo started nagging about battery consuming apps such as voice recorders and virus scanners.

So concerning energy management, what else does one want....

You might consider running more lean phones without unnecessary apps you really don't use anyway.  Some you can reinstall fast enough might you need them. Google keeps track whatever you installed once with a certain account.

@EdT

Latest I got here in Netherlands was a security fix update and after that what looked like an update without reboot, bit strange. The nagging for app consuming management is finally recognized since yesterday, although nagged before easier this week. Problem is sometimes apps are running g in background undetected, this feature seems to take care of that. Like the surprises you get under windows reviewing running task schedule. Still no significant number Oreo complainers with issues that haven't been there under marshmallow and nougat.  Out here nobody came up with issues. Dutch are great complainers usually. More expensive brands have same complaints after Oreo update.

I made the difficult decision and downloaded the update. I think battery consumption is not so bad. I am always connected to Wi-Fi. when I use any app, the battery consumption increases. when I leave the phone, its consumption is very poor. But I will try to do factory reset and see what will happen.

@ abo-elbanatThanks for your information. This helps sorting matters out. We need people to follow steps, give data about their specific phone and give exact results.

Re: Battery drain issue after oreo update

2018-11-29, 15:34 PM

Hello Tech team,

Even I faced similar issue post Oreo update on my Moto G5. After the OS update, I am facing significant lag and small application even like WhatsApp and Chrome are not able to respond and are getting stopped. My phone also gets rebooted intermittently and hence not able to use it properly. Please let me know what should be done in order to solve the issue after Oreo update.

Thanks,

Vikash
