Another battery life data point on a 64GB G5 Plus RETUS. Post 8.1 update, post factory reset, post full charge. Very light usage, no phone calls or texts, mostly just some email reading and web surfing via Wifi and some file transfers via WiFi. 3 days and 18 hours after full charge phone at 3%.

I suggest donating phones to guys like Bennor, and blow your money on let's say iPhones. Those guys happy, apple happy, and you?

All problems described besides battery life where reported on marshmallow and nougat already on wide variety of brands of Android phones. I experienced them myselves. I got rid of some bugs after going to Oreo. Not found a new one yet.

This is what I found. Somehow the CPU usage management has changed on version 8.1.

It uses all the cores together even for a simple processing. On version 7.0 it wasn't looks like this. You can install this app called CPU stats and monitor the usage of the cores.

I have noticed the leve of the CPU usage has changed dramatically for some unknown reason. Maybe CPU management on v 8.1 has issue.

Don't have a comparison to 7.0 but you are right on 8.1 all eight cores are in use when phone (64GB Moto G5 Plus) is idle. CPU Z screen cap.

The core idle issue has to be my problem. I've killed off every app I have and still can't get more than 17 hours on a charge while only actually using the phone for 2 hours. The "fix" was to restart, but I've restarted dozens of times.

Dr. Fone claims they can fix most Oreo problems after update.

https://drfone.wondershare.com/android-updates/android-oreo-update-problems-fix.html#part3

I note Dr Fone never brought me anything on Android or iPhone, I tried use it in recent past and switched to other tools..

It will do no more then already given in certain postings here.

That is exactly what I am talking. There is seriously something wrong on how OS uses use CPU and how it handles of cores on processes.

Before on 7.0 you could see it was usein the cores correctly. I was not be able use all cores the way that it uses now.

Even if you touch the screen, the CPU usage for all 8 cores will go to %40 it is so crazy.

It is too much!

If I use CPU-X another app, actually touching the screen lowers cpu usage, or better said the cpu frequency on cores 5 tot 8. Are these valid apps to measure anything ? Or are these apps measuring their own system performance/load?

If any good. You probably have been told/convinced some where in history that cpu-Z is the tool for a windows PC..

Awaiting somebody comes along with good fortune telling BSOD screens for Android. And you distrust any engineering department of major electronic manufacturing companies that agreed to go to Oreo. Can we talk about battery life, hence it is the thread topic.

If you believe CPU-Z is a true benchmarker get 8 phones of diffent manufacturers with different Android versions and tell us what effect it had on battery life

How in a world touching the screen will lower the CPU usage!!!! Touching screen makes the CPU and GPU to build and process the screen.

Itseems somenbod is upset! Battery usage on this phone on ver 8 compair to previous battery usage on 7 has difference. Other usser has tested with other app, same result.

I use different ways to monitor the battery usage and CPU usage and system resources. Use SYSTEM2.

Same appS on 9 show CORRECT CPU usage on cores.

Do a simple test and just play with screen by moving it. You will notice how it will chew the battery.

We are talking about battery issue.
