In the last few days, the usability of my Moto G5,, purchased in the last year new, has radically changed.
With wifi off I could easily have a fully charge last about 11 hours. I could easily play a white noise app for 8 hrs of sleeping.
About two days ago that changed. Like some similar threads my phone would get stuck at 85% charge and wouldn't go higher. It would drain in just a few hours.
I followed suggestions in other threads: I wiped the cache. I tried to recalibrate the battery by letting it drain to 0%, charging it to 100% while powered off and charging for an hour or so past that.
I just powered up the G5 now and with a 100% charge the battery page is saying Approx. 3 hours left." Three hours on 100%, even when I turn wifi off. I've been searching the web for about 23 minutes and I'm already at 83%. Is my battery just screwed? Why would it go from fantastic life to nothing over one day?
Android 7.0, patch level July 1st 2018.
Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

I did a wipe on the partition cache (google it for instructions). Problem solved!
I did the "clear cache" trick, and performance would return to normal for a few hours, but then resume draining way too fast.
