Encountering Dialer Lag since 08.02.2018

Suddenly, i have started encountering dialer lag on the moto g5 plus since 08th Feb 2018.

Incoming or Outgoing calls are shown as numbers and after 3-5 seconds, the dial screen shows name of the contact which was not happening earlier.

Even missed calls are shown as numbers in the call log, and again after a 3-5 second period, the name of the contact appears.

I use stock dialer app. any ideas?

Did it by change happened after an security update ?   if so it might help if you clear the cache...

After an update a phone is often a little lost and get slow.

Happening all of a sudden.

Have already cleared cache after receiving the November patch.

also, Truecaller hasnt been updated in a while so no issue of any other app interefering with dialer.

Then just try to remove all data from the appp then remove the dailer app, reboot and install the dailer again.  If that wont help it seems you have to make an backup and go wild with an factory reset....

Have you tested in safe mode?

To reboot into safe mode, tap the power button until you see power off on screen. Then tap and hold power off (on screen) and a new menu will appear to reboot into safe mode.

Coincidentally, I am experiencing the same today. Lags in dialer & favorites.

The behaviour is also the same; the names appear after a couple of seconds. Interesting.

Then only you can do is try the steps above or as last hope an factory reset....

Don't forget Lenovo did modify Android pretty heavy and a lot is going on "under the shell"  it's not even close as stable as stock Android like you find on Pixel or Android one phones....  sometimes you have to refresh a messy phone.

A lot of people don't realize that Android on Lenovo phones (and tablets) only look the same as Stock Droid.....

That is not really true. Android One is customized just as much for the hardware. The dialer is the stock android dialer as is most of the Android OS in moto phones - other then Moto actions and drivers.

Even Pixel is not stock android as google ads custom dialer and other custom features.

Please site your sources as Moto's version of stock android is less modified than anything by Samsung, Xiaomi and others, and no more modified then Pixel or Nexus.
