If I uninstall updates, it says "all data will be removed"

Does that mean it will delete all my existing text messages? Afraid to try it without confirmation that I won't lose important text messages.

Large text is just rediculous...someone can read it from across the room!

I did not lose all my text messages. Thought I would based on that warning but I didn't.

Hi DebG,

I would try to suggest to clear the cache of the Message app and see if that would help. Clearing the cache is different from clearing the data of the app.

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Look for Apps and Notifications
  3. Look for the Message app you're using
  4. Tap Storage
  5. then tap Clear cache

See if that helps.

Before uninstalling the updates, I did try to clear the cache and it did not help. It was only when I uninstalled the updates that everything went back to normal. And, again, my experience was that uninstalling the updates did not get rid of all my text messages. Your mileage may vary but that was my experience.

Hi WAFL,

Thanks for sharing what you have tried. Hope he consider trying to do uninstall updates as it seems it is the fix.

Thank you! Thank you! Uninstalling the update worked! It took me a few days to work up the courage and I thought I was going to pass out, waiting to see if my messages were still there, and they were! (The message of erasing data is intimidating!)

I truly appreciate the advice!

So glad to be back to normal size texts!

Great news! I'm glad it worked out for you. I was hoping you would try the uninstall updates solution because I think that is the only solution. I thought your texts would be saved but you just never know. I agree that having the font issue fixed is wonderful! There has to be a lot of frustrated people out there who are having the same issue.

Hi DebG,

Thanks for trying the suggestion! I even tried to uninstall updates on my end and that works fine! Hopefully others who would have this concern has the fix ready for them.

Thanks WAFL for trying to help our fellow user! I really appreciate it!

Hey everyone, SUPER easy fix for this. No need to roll back any updates or clear caches or anything. Open a message and while in that message, simply pinch two fingers together to make the text smaller.

This helped me too
