Google Assistant has stopped working. What do I do?

2017-07-20, 12:53 PM

Google search/Assistant app has totally gotten unusable for me recebtly. I don't have any ideas for a solution except clearing the system cache. How can I do that? Is there a better solution? Thanks!

Hi jstores,

Try wiping the app cache for a start. Go to Settings > Apps > Google > Storage > Clear cache. Reboot the phone, then test. Let us know what happens.

I had this happen a few weeks back. I did what Moto_JM's advises to do in an attempt to fix a different issue. It had no effect on that issue. But, it did fix the Google Assistant.

Give it a try!

Same issue. It seems this started after the system update that was rolled out.

"Launcher3 isn't responding" is the error that is popping up.

You can wipe the phone's cache partition. This is especially recommended after a major update. The steps are here. Let us know if it works.  -JM

I have also been having problems with my phone the past few days.

I did try the wipe the cache and that didn't seem to help.

Besides the google search not responding error, and the launcher3 error, other things that are new problems are that

  1. the phone reboots on it's own a few times a day,
  2. I am not receiving calls and they are going straight to voicemail with no missed call notification.

This all seems to be happening in the past 3 days, even though the new update was installed on my phone on July 9th.

Followed your instructions, no change. Still an issue with the Google search bar and swiping to Google

Problem solved: Go to- Settings, apps, show system, Launcher3, clear cache, clear data, force stop, restart.

This did remove the icons, but easy to set back up. No more issues.
