Here is how the Security update process works.

Dear John,

Thank you for the details. The updates or security patches are relased by selecting random IMEI numbers. Once your device IMEI number is selected, it will automatically receive it. I would request you to wait and will receive the update soon.

More info can be found on the Android Software Update pages:

As you can see did I replace some details into xxxx  (yes my name is really John so it was a dear John letter)

This is told before but Lenovo select random the IMEI's who will get the update  so it's like a casino..... you can't do anything to get the updates sooner. This also works the same way for the Android 8 upgrade later on.

I was planning to post this Friday but I just got the mail from Lenovo, I wanted it black on white.

Have all a nice day

This does not seem entirely true as there are countries that receive updates way before other countries do.

Interesting... As such, I'm on the amz (Amazon) channel. I just received the January update. I received the November update, less than a week ago!

Cheers.  I think the security updates for the G5 and G5 plus are out of step.

The G5 and the G5plus don't even have the same SOC  so they are on a complete separate update pad....

Hello,  Maybe you can answer my question...it may be related to your comment about G5 and G5 plus being out of step.  I've posted 3 other places and no one seems to be able to address this.  I am in US, have AMZ SW channel and variant.

I received prompt a few days ago to install Nov Security update.  I have G5 Plus and it says the update is New Version NPN25.137-93.  I read here that G5 Plus should be NPN25.137.92.  What am I missing if anything?  Is it okay for me to accept?  Thanks if you have any referencable information to confirm please share.
