How to take bug reports and other cool stuff.

Hi,

 

There are a couple of steps you have to know in case we ask you to review on your phone:

 

1. Safe mode: starts the device without any 3rd party applications being started. This will allow you to open apps individually to try and determine which app may be causing the issue.


To Enable Safe Mode
Press the Power key
Touch and hold Power off
Touch OK when Reboot to safe mode appears
Phone will reboot and Safe Mode will appear in bottom left corner
While in Safe Mode, launch apps one at a time to identify the app causing the problem

Generic Bug Reports This will collect information about your current device state, to send as an e-mail message.


Steps for getting bugreport: We may ask you to take a bug report when you are having an issue (phone freezes, app crashes, phone reboots on its own, etc.).
Go to Settings -> About Phone -> Tap on Build number seven times on the build number to enable a new Settings item, Developer options.
Go to Settings ->Developer options -> Enable USB debugging > Toggle On
Enable Settings -> Developer options -> Enable Bug Report shortcut > Toggle On
Once the issue is reproduced: Go to Settings -> Developer options -> Click on take bug report or Press Power button and then choose Bug Report from the Power down menu.
Wait for some time until the bug report is collected. It takes around 3 to 4 minutes to collect the Bug Report.
Then upload the BugReport to your personal Google Drive and then share the link to the BugReport on the forums in a reply or via a private message..
Provide observations of what you saw happen right before the bug report was taken. Please indicate the local time when you observed the behavior.

 

ADD TO WIFI/BT ROOT POST

4. Information required for WiFi and Bluetooth issues
For Bluetooth: Accessory brand and model (i.e. headsets, speakers, watches). Car make, model, year
For WiFi: Brand and model of the router.
For both: If WiFi and BT are both on or if any correlation can be seen between BT and WiFi.
Applications being used (i.e. music player app, any Bluetooth Low Energy apps or accessories such as FitBit, etc).
Send Bug Report as noted above


Information required for Data stall issues reported
Please collect information from APP ""IPLog"", if it exist in your release.
Go to All apps -->IPLog tool -->Launch the tool
Check ""IPLog""
Reproduce the issue (and browser some websites)
Uncheck ""IPLog”
Please attach files under /sdcard/iplog/ to CR.
If no CR generated, plz keep files under /sdcard/iplog/ , in case issue assignee need these.
Please let us know whether browser works well, or when the issue appears.
Send Bug Report as noted above.
