Moto G5 Plus faded/washed out screen

2017-08-03, 3:33 AM

Just received my new Moto G5 plus and the first thing I noticed was the colour wasn't right. After taking few pictures then realized it looks sooooo faded/washed out/ over exposed picture. But when I saw the picture on another phone it looked so bad.

So is there a way to fix this or is it just a factory defect on this phone?? HELP PLEASE!!

I took pictures beside my old nexus 5 (left side) which got a little faded too after 2years. Both phones are on the same brightness. You can see a HUGE difference

to me it just looks like a different color temp of the screen. I don't see any fading or washed out color. There is no factory defect i can see.

I can't remember if the G5 has a color calibration setting under the display options, if it does you can try that. There are no other settings.

But I am only going by a photograph. If no suggestions work, and you don't like it, i suggest you return it.

I've noticed the G5+ color temp is definitely very far on the cool/blue side as well and focusing on the screen text seems to be challenging at times (early morning, etc). Having my G5+ next to my Nexus 5x looks very similar to what your pic shows. I've resorted to a blue light filter app to get past it. The differences in the color mode settings are pretty negligible. I went back to my Nexus 5x because of it.

Washed out colours on phone camera

2017-12-23, 12:06 PM

How can I get realistic colours on the camera photos? For instance, every time I take a photo of a brighlty coloured bullfinch, it is essentially different grades of grey and black (see file)

You can try the troubleshooting steps here but if it doesn't work, please submit it for repair.

Hi Daisy,

What is the likelihood that going through all if those steps will cure the wrong colours? Forgot to say all colours are wrong - orange = yellow.

How would they repair it?

Seems lots of people have this problem with no fix, so is it worth returning it if it's a standard problem?
