Moto G5 Plus, not liking Verizon

2018-08-19, 22:48 PM

Hi, made the apparent mistake of purchasing a Motorola G5 Plus from COSTCO.  I've done every update, and now my mobile data from the Verizon towers is almost zero.  MotoG5+ says "LTE" so I run "speedtest" app and it races along at 0.01 MB/s down and 0.92MB/s up. Try again, 0.42MB/s down, and 0.07MB/s up.  Had seven, yes seven conversations with Verizon and they tell me it's my "crappy unlocked phone from Moto that's not designed for their network".  I don't think so. The G5+ is so-so with WiFi, but lately has crashed and burned on Bluetooth with a FitBit and I can't even get a single photo on my phone on the Verizon mobile data network. This is worthless. I won't even go on about how the GPS is about 75 feet too late for turns - apparently no compass in the darn thing.

Anyhow, do I have a reject phone or what? It seemed passable until a few months ago, now it's a worthless dog as we are not permitted to use the company WiFi, only mobile data, so it's that or nothing. HELP!  Update: No "S"

I just recently moved four phones from T mobile to Verizon.  Big mistake... after being lied to repeatedly by Verizon finally got a level 2 tech to tell me partial truths.  Here is what I know as of today.  One is Verizon does not disclose verbally or in writing that 5 key features will not work if you bring your unlocked phone to Verizon.  They do this so that you will buy one of their phones that is virtually identical to the Moto you now have.  I had WiFi calling on T Mobile.  When I switched to Verizon the feature and my phones menus were charged when the new SIM card initialized.  The Wi Fi calling option disappeared from my menu.  At first Verizon told me my new G6 was broken... then when I told them it was unlikely that the four new phones I moved to Verizon all broke at the same time they told me bring it to the store we can fix... that did Not work either.  Fianly a tech told me Verizon made a business decision to try to force new customers bringing a phone unlocked to buy a Verizon phone.  Bottom line they have disabled my new phone and are holding me hostage to buy a new phone and throw away my new phone I bought from Costco.  The most serious part of their plan is they are not disclosing that they are disabling your phone features.  In California that is a violation of the law.  Today Verizon told me they don’t care if they are violating the law.  So I have no choice but to go back to TMobile of ATT,  How many customers have been lied to and accepted the lie and bought a new phone because Verizon told them their phone was broken when in reality it was not.  Very deceptive business practices.  I am looking for a class action lawyer to file on behalf of all customers who were not informed of the loss they would face if they switched to Verizon.  I will also be submitting a complaint to the appropriate office here in California.  I would suggest if those who have been deceived by Verizon do the same in your state.  I gave Verizon the benefit of the doubt and asked them to show me in the contract where they said that features that my phone has would be disabled.  They could not and would not.  I guess that is the way of the future as companies become larger they think they can cheat and lie and pay the fine if they get caught.  Please don’t put up with this deception.  Fight back against corruption and dishonesty

I have the same beef on my Motorola from COSTCO. I have crap Verizon reception inside my house, even my front door in a metropolitan area. They said their maps show that I "should" have fair reception- I do not, asked sbout WiFi calling, and thay said "sorry about your luck, your phone doesn't do that". BS. The only feature thst they didn't take away from me is the FM Radio. Verizon= Big Bully

I just had the same experience.  I just moved four phones to Verizon.  They did not disclose that they were going to take away features that I had and that the Moto is capable of using.  After many lies from tech service and the store people... I was told the truth.  VERIZON INTENTIALY REMOVES FEATURES FROM YOUR PHINE IS YOU DONT BUY IT FROM THEM.  THE PROBLEM IS THIS IS ILLEGAL.... they need to disclose this to the customer.  Also they tried to tell me my brand new G6 was broken.  Funny how four phones broke at the same time the SIM card was inserted.... two IPHONES AND TWO MOTO.  ANYWAY IT WAS A LIE.  I am reporting to my state agency that regulates this.  .... same issue with service.  WOW IT IS TERRIBLE ON VERIZON.  I have a business phone on Verizon and it works great.  They finally told me that business accounts get priority.  Anyway what they have done is illegal.  Report to you state agency.
