Moto G5 - UK Security Updates

2017-11-26, 11:11 AM

Dear Lenovo -

Why have you not updated the security patch level for the Moto G5 in the UK since January 2017, when other regions have received updates to May or even August for the same hardware?

Phone: Moto G5

Channel: retgb

Security patch level: January 2017

Dear Moto agent -

Thank you for responding, but no thanks for not answering the question.

There have been several critical security flaws in Android disclosed in 2017, yet no security updates in the UK. What does this say about your 'commitment'?

You issued some security patches for Moto G5 in other regions. What is different about the UK that you are still evaluating for the same hardware?

Thanks again.

I had the same issue with my g5 and told me the same thing and some other dude said the release them every 2 to 3 month which is also a lie there only going to drop Oreo and that's it forget that the g5 is sold in the uk do yourself a favour return your Moto g5 as I did because it's not worth the hassle get a different phone all together I got a Nokia 5 £99 brand new from carphone warehouse and when switching device on I was bombed with updates I'm on 7.1.2 but I'm on November security patch and all Nokia phones are like this they will also receive Oreo at end of year only difference between g5 and Nokia 5 is screen resolution and quick charge that's it.return g5 and go different I urge everyone to do it with a UK g5

This response is utterly incorrect. Many parts of the world are on May, August, even October security patches. Meanwhile the UK is stuck on a nearly-year-old update. If they get the updates, why don't we? It's the same phone.

Return the device within the return window. Don't expect Moto to fix any of the issue you have highlighted. We have recieved so far once security update in the last 9 months. Low Volume issue exists both in both Headset and Speaker.

Return the device if you can. Get another mobile Nokia/Samsung which provides regular security updates and fixes the issue.

Hi Daisy,

Moto is only committed to sell their phones. They have not fixed the essential problem in this phone which is low volume in phone. We purchase phonse for call plus other stuff. But still we use mobile for making calls. I have to put my phone in speaker everytime to call anyone from my phone. Worst mobile I have purchased so far. My first and Last Moto (Cheap company) phone.

Thanks

Very bad service from Lenovo/Moto!

The Phone is fine, but without essential security updates

it's gonna be my first and last Moto.

It's December now Moto.

Any chance of seeing the critical Android security updates released to the UK G5 by Christmas?

It seems not, utterly shocking support from Lenovo/Motorola.
