Moto G5 doesn't run 60fps videos on YouTube?

2017-04-17, 4:19 AM

Hello,
I just bought a new cellphone, it's a Moto G5. My older phone resolution was 720p, but could easily run 60fps videos on youtube. This new one, G5, has 1080p resolution and does not has 60fps option on youtube. My older phone was running android marshmallow, and this one has 7.0 android. It's just me or the G5 still doesn't have the option for 60fps videos? I really need help with this, i would like to watch 720-1080p 60fps videos.

Thanks

Hi, I just checked on my Moto G5 plus about 60fps support and here's what I found. Note that my YouTube version is 12.14.56.

Normal videos shot at 30fps will have quality options till 1080p if original video is in 4K.

However if the video was shot in 60fps, the max setting I get is 720p60fps.

Same problem with me. It's strange because the moto g4 plus supports the 1080p 60fps option for the same video, but my new moto g5 plus does not..it only shows 720p 60fps option

Checked again after long time with version 12.36.56 and still max support is 720p60fps . Strange indeed...

I wonder if its because Youtube app thinks my data speed isn't sufficient for 1080p60fps playback. Will update once I get to use a good speed Wi-Fi.

As far as I know, this is not a issue pertaining the phone, rather it's a limitation in the YouTube app itself. I was able to see 1080p60 in the YouTube app long back but never really bothered to check it again, as I don't stream at that quality. I only noticed that it's missing after coming across this thread; update to YouTube app must be the culprit.

you can get 1080p @ 60 fps with the newpipe app. Strange that the youtube app doesn't support it.

Today YouTube app got a new update which enables 1080p 60fps option.

Update your app to get it.

Best Regards, Syed Zeeshan.

Hey there,

After a long time, months, YouTube finally uptaded the app and now we can watch 720-1080p videos at 60fps (on the Moto G5 of course). It took a long time, but they fixed.

Thanks for everyone who helped
