Please let us know Oreo update.

Only Mods know the date for your country. I never mentioned the global roll out, just the update I have received here.

The lack of oreo update is pushing people to dump the g5 plus and go to better options. Motorola hasn't taken a word seriously about the oreo update. They are reluctant to provide it. We have to suffer. If not, then there is no option but to switch to better choices in the market.

The people who care about the lack of oreo are just the few tech geeks like us, and we're probably less than 10% of the people who bought the phone, and at the very very least 5% of us won't dump a phone and get a new one just for a late android update.

and what better choices are you talking about? nokia 5 and 6? the G5+ is better in almost everything. the redmi note 5/ 5 pro then? surprise!!! it comes with nougat too, a newer version of nougat, but still nougat! the only thing that would drive the people to get the note 5/ 5 pro, is only the 18:9 display.

let me repeat a few things that have been posted countless times in the 10 years that I have been a member of this forum.

1: Motorola does not release specific dates for the release of updates

2: We moderators are volunteers, not Motorola employees.

Nobody is asking for dates. We are just discussing why Motorola is lagging even lower end companies in OS , security patches, new service roll out like VoLTE. When I pay 5-7 thousand rupees more than other phones with same configuration, I expect that sometime down the line I would get these things. When Airtel launched VoLTE here in India in September 2017, devices like Xiaomi we're already on their compatibility list. Since then the devices have been growing in their list. They have companies like Zen, Techno, Karbon, Gionee, Oppo and many more. Not a single Moto device is their list be it flagship, mid range or lower end. Now Vodafone also launched VoLTE and Moto is missing there also. Honour has rolled patch for Idea also while Idea has not even launched the service. If the company is selling the most expensive phones as compared to the competition you should at least one thing to be on time.

On time? What time? Your time? **bleep**, even the Samsung Note 8 a $1000 phone isn't in Oreo yet. My Z Droid Force is still not on Oreo. My Z2 just got it and it was pulled for having issues. So in the whole picture your being a bit over the top with this. So if your expensive G5 doesn't have it yet and phones that are crazy expensive in your terms don't either, why are you so upset? Only 2% of all android phones have it right now. It's time to calm down and relax. This thread is pure insanity...

Eagle you missed my point. I am not specific to Oreo update if you read my post with patience . I was talking about VoLte support primarily and keeping oreo update and security patches as secondary. As far as Samsung is concerned it korean brother of Motorola when it comes to updates. Coming to your point of timely updates as no one is giving. How come one plus be ahead of Motorola be it Oreo or VoLTE or security patches. Why doesn't apple discriminate be it iPhone 8 or 5s.

Funny discussions going on ... ;o). In fact, I sit back and relax - cause first priority for me is security. And I received the january patch two days ago - a very pleasant suprise! I don't know if this was by accident (cause my recent experience was more on the best "quarterly sec-patches" side) or a coming change (driven by Nokias successful return to the market - average hardware combined with a good update strategy - obviously welcome by the audience).

I expect only one major update for the g5 plus and would rather wait a little longer to land on a stable 8.1 (or last oreo subversion) than get stuck on an early delivered 8.0 one ....

Also I don't expect Motorola to implement project treble with the update . Means at the end of the day, this phone will have a common lifecycle of 2-3 years (assuming that techies change phone after security patches have been stopped).

In the meantime we will see if release updates on midrangers are really faster and more often with treble (having an eye on the G6 for example) and if motorola speeds up concerning security patches.

Cause the hardware is fine, the OS quite untouched, a view tweaks which make sense and are welcome. With a better update strategy Motorola would be - in my opinion - clearly ahead of Nokia.
