I have Moto g5 plus model xt1687, software channel amz and it is still on 7.0, I am just wondering since the soak test is done and also you have released the updates in India and Brazil so can we except the updates in usa next year?

Whom you are kidding around, all the phone users here are well educated in Technologies and I am also a developer in Java. When will the updates will finally come to USA phones?

What is the point of security updates that are received on avg. 3-4 months after they have been released? I already saw mentioned on the boards that a September security update is out in the eild, but I assume I'll receive that next year at the earliest.

While it's disappointing to receive security updates late in the day, I'd rather have them then than not at all...

Last I saw the US soak test was still going.

At least on new version was released to testers after the rollout started in India.

August 1 to Oct 16 is not 3-4 months. And no one ekae has updates on the day patches are released.

Motorola us actually getting faster with the updates which is surprising with the 8.1 update also in the works.

My experience with a retgb phone is that the security updates got quicker earlier this year, but I am now approaching the furthest out of date the phone has yet been. I'm on June 2018 patch at the moment. I suspect that the Oreo update is causing a slowdown in security patches for some markets, but less so in others.

For me, the important thing for customers is to be able to have some trust in the updates. I've come to trust that I would get security updates every 3 months or so and that they would be a couple of months behind oi terms of date. For OS updates, I had been trusting that I'd get the update about 5 months after Google's release, based on what I'd got with 4 previous Moto phones. That trust is no longer there and Moto won't give any details.  I understand they don't want to give a date that they might miss, but Moto might need to try and salvage a little trust from customers now they fallen so far below the standards they had set in the past in terms of update speed
