Okay, so I got the notification but the problem is, I've unlocked my bootloader and installed TWRP. I regret this entirely, I don't know why I even did it to begin with, but I tried to install it and it said "error" anfter a while. I got so scared that my device bricked, but I held the power button and it booted on like normal. I looked up causes for that and one of them was play services being out of date and bad signal. I had been getting notifications that play services kept "stopping" so I uninstalled all updates And installed an APK of the latest version instead of going to the play store and even tho it WAS the latest version of play services and everything worked, I still kept getting messages saying it was out of date. I also was using the spotty school WiFi at the time. Since I restarted it and got home, I uninstalled all updates to play services and updated via the play store and no longer get those notifications, I also am using my good WiFi at home now. Could those have been the reason my device got an error when trying to install the update? Or is it definitely my custom recovery? Also if I wanted to try again for the heck of it, could I brick my device by installing an OTA and then in the middle of it getting an "error"? I really wish I just had everything back to stock, I understand the benefits, but I'm such a noob illI probably never use them. Am I really stuck on nougat forever now? From what I understand it's not an easy process to get the stock recover back and relocking the bootloader, I'd probably brick my device trying. Help please!!
This forum is only for stock devices - we can't help if you installed TWRP. I suggest you go to modding forums and get assistance there.
And yes, if you take an OTA update and have modded, you can possibly brick your phone.
I would not take an OTA unless back to stock. Keep in mind that even when stock, some users that made previous changes have bricked their phones when taking an OTA - usually they downgraded OS, but bootloader version doesn't downgrade.
Anyway, if you have questions regarding a modded phone, they must go in the developer forum here. But XDA and other hacker forums tend to be more active.
