A few months ago, I installed the Oreo update. It fried my phone. After fighting with the company, I was able to get a $70 refurbished replacement. When looking through the forums, I noticed that several people had battery issues after the update. So naturally, I avoided it. Well, last night, it forced it through. Luckily my phone didn't fry this time, but I absolutely f-ing hate the update. I have always had the dark theme on my phone. The bright white (even when the screen is dimmed) is way too much. That is gone and no option to change it. I had to download a 3rd party app to be able to do soemthing the phone should be able to do. When I receive texts now, the phone vibrates. There is no option to shut it off. I thought updates were supposed to make the phone better, not take away basic features. WTH?

Changing your wallpaper to dark will change it to a dark quick settings view. (wallpaper need to be dark aswell)

It already was a dark wallpaper. :/ Don't see why any of that needed to change. Always fixing problems that aren't there and creating new ones on top of it.

A very pleasant, but unexpected surprise.

Re:[OFFICIAL] Android 8(Oreo) Update CONFIRMED!

I recently purchased a Moto G5 (XT1670) which, as you know, comes stock with Android 7. I am trying to update to Android 8.1, however, the 'Settings' screen shows "Your device is up to date." Can someone please share a link to a manual installation file? All the links from Google seem to be broken/outdated. Thanks in advance!

Moto probably offered this benefit upto 1 yr after warranty validity ( from the date of launch). Now, I think, u will have to go to Moto service center & make payment for updating to 8.1

Hi PPO1,

Have you tried flashing your phone using LMSA tool? Here are the links:

Download LMSA

How to use LMSA

The PC software also says the phone (Android 7) is up to date.

Hi PPO1,

Try doing the Rescue function using LMSA tool. You will see the instruction on the link I previously gave. Please note that the Rescue function will wipe the phones data. You can backup your files using LMSA as well. Once done with the Rescue, try checking for update again.
