There is no way to bypass the pin.  A reset is the only option.  If google photo sync is turned on, then your photos are backed up to google.

Check on a pc to see if photos were backed up to google. Photos.google.com

AlphaDog,

In my old phone, if I entered wrong pin/pattern for 5 times then, it asks for Google email id & password to reset password.

Doesn't this phone has that option?

I don't know. I have never seen that behavior. I guess you have nothing to lose by trying.

This article says you can reset your pin from Android Device Manager

I have not tried it though. but I did click on the lock link, and it looks like you can do this remotely.  let us know how it works out.

When you click on Lock, it just lets you leave a message for the finder and number to call. Your device then allows the finder to call any number you put in there.

I live in UK. My phone is powered off and I can't switch back on again because I don't have/remember pin. I am unable to find local help phone no. As this is my only means of phoning out and I am 81 years old it is my vital link to family, doctors etc. What should I do to restore my phone.

There is a reason for not letting you access the phone without a pin, it stops a stolen phone from being used.  Anyone could use this forum to find a way to access the phone.   I'm not saying that any of the posts are asking to access a stolen phone but it could happen.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

If you factory reset the phone it will trigger a different security measure called killswitch. It's a google thing. Basically what happens is that it starts a 24 hour counter. After the 24 hours has elapsed you can finish the setup process by logging into the original gmail account that was on the phone. If you reset your gmail password, it starts the counter over again

Thanks for the info.  That covers my concern over unlocking a stolen phone.
