Saying goodbye

2017-11-24, 8:51 AM

Hello this will be my last post on here and would just like to say goodbye and to Lenovo thanks for nothing bi have sold my Moto g5 and got a Nokia 5 instead and I'm very impressed I'm on latest 7.1.2 nougat Oreo will be here by end of December and on November security patch it's basically the same in internals as the g5 apart from the screen which is 720 but who cares it's a brilliant phone.the best thing you Moto people can do is to get rid of your Moto and change to Nokia or other company you will not regret it

Goodbye

Yes there will be Oreo the beta for it is out in a week or 2 but the full release is at the end of December and it has even been promised for android p when made available in time to come and the monthly updates are what made me switch there on time and that's what counts

And even for Moto, they already said that they will start pushing out the update starting this FALL. Means, it will start this Autumn.

Apparently for the Z series first.

For G series, i assume that it will get Oreo at end of December/January.

Sorry but even if Lenovo do push out Oreo you will barely get security updates I was on 7.0 1st Jan patch I paid 150 for a device that didn't get one single update in the uk also the g series is only getting one major upgrade where the Nokia 5 is getting 2.the Nokia 5 is bang up to date in terms of a security patches and on 7.1.2 the Nokia 5 was worth every penny I spent on it after I sold my g5 and I have not regret it at all if anything it's a no brainer to go to Nokia if Moto was still owned by Google and had timely updates I would of kept the g5 only thing I have downgraded was the screen as it's 720 and no quick charge but that's not a issue for me.people do yourselves a favour and dump your Moto g series not worth my money glad I got my money back

Well, it's your choice..

But, for now I have a reason why Nokia is faster in updates. It is, currently Nokia has only 5 Android phones. As the count is very less, it is easier for them to give updates.

Whereas Moto has several devices currently.. Just in G5, there are 4 phones..

It's lots of hard for Moto to work for each and every device.. Even though, still Moto stands out great for updates comparing to some brands..

And as the Nokia is New for Android phones, it will try to attract all customers of other brands by giving quick updates and two major updates.

But, finally when Nokia reaches their goal of certain number of customers and at that time, there will be so many devices for them, they will also maintain priorities.. like one major update for budget phones..& security patches per every 2/3 months..

Best Regards, Syed Zeeshan.

Absolute tosh my friend I spent 150 on the g5 and not one software update not even a security patch.it can't be that much hardworking users in India etc have at least august patch at least that's something but from a UK buyer to not receive a security patch is not acceptable to any standard why should I pay for a device that doesn't get maintenance because Lenovo is waiting to push out Oreo? That's not how you treat your customers period. I'm glad that I switched and recommend others do the same to a different brand if they want a service that you have paid for by buying there product.i won't be posting here know more but on one last note spend your hard earned cash on a brand that wants to keep its following

I also bought Xiaomi Mi A1 over Moto G5S Plus for my brother. Approx. 6 updates have been received by Mi A1 in a span of 2 months.
Moto is good but really bad at updates. Wish to purchase a Moto in future if the update strategy changes. Else it will be Nokia or Android One.
