Slow Netflix startup

On my G5 it takes a lot of time (about a minute) for Netflix to load when starting it after closing it completely. The app starts, but the red Netflix circle keeps spinning for about a minute before the main screen loads.

On my Samsung S6 from work it only takes 5 seconds to load.

Anybody else with this problem? Or a solution perhaps?

You do realise you are comparing Apples and Oranges? Galaxy S6 has a faster processor than Moto G5

I realise that, but i had a G4 Play before the G5 and that also did not have this problem. So that's why I am curious if anybody else has this problem specific with the G5.

Is this the only app that has this concern? Are you using data connection to open this app?

Yes, Netflix is the only app that takes long to load. Other apps like YouTube and Google Play Films start normally. After loading, the Netflix app works normally, it is just the initial loading screen that takes long to finish.

 

I only use it on WiFi. I tested it with airplane mode but then it takes the same time to load. So it makes no difference if I use it online or offline (airplane mode).

Hi Wocli,

 

 Have you tried to clear the app data of the app?  

To go clear the data of the app: Go to Settings> Apps> Look for Netflix> Storage> Clear Data and see if that works.

Thx for the tip. Unfortunately, it didn't make a difference. Neither did reinstalling the app.

The same.

Clearing the cache wont help neither re-install.

Does not make a difference if connected to WIFI or cellular. The same slow app start is bothersome.

Hi Leppis,

 

 If that's the case, I would suggest doing clear cache partition. Since this is the only app that has this issue, I would suggest contacting the app developer as it happens with any other phones based on Play Store review of Netflix. Some users have the same slow response thing on Netflix app of their phone.
